No Time to Unwind!!

 Saturday 2 November 2024

Today started like many other days but ended with a dramatic change.  We went to an auction down in Wellsville right beside Ben's place.  It was like any other auction, a lot of things we liked but won't fit in the Moho. That is until noon when they started the auction of the real estate.  We had looked at it three or so weeks ago but figured it would sell way over our price. The bidding was really over in less than 2 minutes.  Although, the auctioneer kept looking around trying to get 5 thousand more, then 2 thousand and finally 1 thousand, someone else bid.  You talk about highs and lows. πŸ˜€πŸ˜žπŸ˜…πŸ˜“OH YEA. Then he goes into meet with the family comes back out and tries one more time for more money.  It seemed like forever.  Diane was shaking and finally he says SOLD. πŸ˜πŸ˜€πŸ˜ So now we have a house (assuming closing goes well).  We go into to meet with family and lawyer to sign a bunch paperwork. We were so nervous and shaking we could barely sign the paperwork.
The rest of the day is kind of a blur.  We bought the frig and a freezer but mostly just walked around wondering what heck 'did we just do'.
Back to the Moho ate dinner but can't remember what.

A picture of the outside and one of the Kitchen.  It needs painted and some new carpet but if we wanted to, it is move in ready.

Sunday 3 November 2024

We slept surprisingly well.  The day passed without any second guessing ourselves. Of course, no banks, lawyer's offices or settlement companies were open. We made list after list of things to do in the morning. We are still very nervous! It was a really beautiful day, sunny and warm for November and we took advantage.  Lots of walks for Rudy. We celebrated with a bottle of good wine, steaks and shrimp. Tomorrow the crap will hit the fan.

Monday 4 November 2024

Today also went buy in a blur.  Called two lawyers, two banks, two abstract companies and the accountant. Our plan was to pay as much down as possible. No one liked our plan! But no time to waste tomorrow we have to the Moho back down to the repair shop.
The day ended and we literally have stacks of notes lying around the kitchen table. By 5 o'clock our heads hurt, and we have all kinds of numbers swirling around our brain.

Tuesday 5 November 2024

Election Day!  We had a cooked breakfast cleaned up and headed over to vote.  Dreading how long the lines would be and if we had enough time to stand in line.  We were pleasantly surprised.  There was a line, but we got through it in less than a half hour. Back to the Moho, finished packing up and were on the road by 2pm.  We going to the Elks in New Castle DE. It's about 10 miles from the repair shop and we need to be there 9:30 tomorrow morning. The entire trip down Diane was fielding questions from everyone we called yesterday. About halfway along the check engine came on.  Are you kidding me!πŸ˜ŸπŸ˜• And if our stress level wasn't high enough, we missed a turn heading to the Elks.  It was getting dark; Diane found a new route was only 2 or 3 miles longer but went into housing areas and places we didn't want to be in.  Made it to the Elks set up, headed in for a drink. The people were very nice, and we chatted for a while. Back out walked Rudy and had chicken corn soup (homemade I might add).

Wednesday 6 November 2024

Dropped off the Moho right at 9:30 and started driving the 2 1/2-hour trip back to Lynne's. Of course, the phone calls continued all day. We are trying to juggle all the calls and information requests while driving and eating lunch. All of our notes and paperwork are packed in the overnight bag.  Just to sum it up.  The info overload is starting to overwhelm us. The two banks were the worst. Get a quote then the other guys wants to requote and on and on, it went.
We arrived at the Shirk's, picked up a pizza made some more notes and went to bed. Oh, I can't forget the RV shop called a couple time with questions. They wanted to install new batteries for $2,500 more.  No way! I'm done with them.

Thursday 7 November 2024

Lynne and Rick off to work.  We kind of took over the kitchen. Spread all our notes out and continued trying to make a decision.  I did go visit Bev picked up some deer burger for meat loaf tonight.  Drove down to the house wanted to check property lines but ran out of time. Back to the house Diane ran over to Shane's to drop off some fresh mushroom we bought yesterday on the way home. Diane made the meatloaf while I started narrowing down our choices.
We all enjoyed fresh meatloaf and mashed cauliflower (eating healthier). We thought we had a decision then the phone rings. Banker wants one more stab at it. The sellers called looking for settlement information. Oh, we forgot about settlement and it is hunting season. The RV shop called again with more questions but assured us it will be done tomorrow! Took some pain pills and went to bed.

Friday 8 November 2024

Diane and Lynne made us a nice breakfast before we had to get to work on the house settlement. Finally picked a bank and process is started. πŸ˜… The RV shop never called so we just headed down after lunch hoping it will be ready. We arrived about 3:30, I go in ask if it is ready why sure it is. They didn't think about calling us. We all go out, go over the rework they did. Paint looked good, mud flaps were on and installed new skid plates.  Back inside go over the bill and go out ready to roll. Nope, no keys. 😠😑 We wait and wait. I go back inside and finally get the keys and ready to roll. Diane opens the frig and apparently, they didn't plug it in, refrigerator temp was 70 almost degrees. 😑😑😑 This is a never-ending nightmare.  Finally, we are on the road home. It was well after dark and the deer were everywhere and check engine light keeps coming on.πŸ˜• Pulled into Dillsburg, parked and set up in the dark. But we are home!!

Saturday 9 November 2024

I guess the RV shop is done, settlement is under way and stress has dropped. We slept until 7:15 that is unheard of especially for me. Oh yes, I forgot we took the truck to the garage on Tuesday, so we had to go get that this morning. Diane had to get groceries especially after we had to throw most of the refrigerator items away. I spent most of the day researching batteries finally picked Sam's Club and went over picked up 8 new house batteries for just over $1,000 but a far cry from the $2,500 the RV shop wanted. Diane came home we unloaded groceries before she started faxing paperwork to the bank. Another day just plain exhausted. Wings from the VFW and called it a day. Hopefully tomorrow will bring some much-needed down time.
