End of Archery, on to the next Season.

 Tuesday 19 November 2024

Today was appointment day. I had Dr appointment at 9am.  Came home picked up Rudy for his 11:30 vet appointment.  Or our way home we passed Diane going to her hair appointment. 😐 By time she got back it was dinner time.  Wine, tacos and the day was over.

Wednesday 20 November 2024

I was up at 4am headed out to hunt.  Diane had a bad sore throat stayed home laid around most of the day.  She still managed to do 3 loads of laundry and dishes. Rudy enjoyed the extra nap time and belly rubs he got with her resting a lot. I hunted morning and evening and saw one deer. πŸ˜•

Thursday 21 November 2024

I was up once again at 4am to good hunting. I wasn't up 15 minutes when Diane hollered.  I ran to the bedroom; Rudy was throwing up.  Cleaned that up gather the comforter up to wash and threw up again. Blanket and sheets this time.  Strip the bed, he threw up on the floor. Cleaned that up.  Now it is just 5am, we are up, awake, and the bed is striped.  Lucky for us the laundromat is open 24hrs.  I went to the laundromat while Diane made breakfast.
Diane still sick with sore throat. No hunting this morning. I made the grocery store, wine store and drug store run.  Came back had lunch and headed out for the evening hunt.  I wasn't but barely in my stand when Diane called, Rudy threw up again. Now we have realized every time we give him his pill he would get sick. Stopped his pills and no longer throwing up. Yea😊 Wings and a salad for dinner.

Friday 22 November 2024

Diane had a deer roast simmering all night to make homemade beef vegetable soup for the hunters.  I went out hunting for the last day of archery deer and didn't see a single deer.  I thought for I would get something.  It snowed most of the night.  It was beautiful sitting in the woods watching the squirrels scurrying around hiding the last stash of food for winter. Eventually the snow turned to rain, the wind picked up and I was getting wet.  I lasted until 11 wet, cold and miserable I called it a day.
The house smelled wonderful when I walked in.  Soup was all fixed just simmering.  The end of deer archery season and I have no deer.  We talked a lot about the house before enjoying a bowl (or 2) of fresh homemade veggie soup. YUM

The snow was pretty as long as it lasted.

Saturday 23 November 2024     First day of rifle bear season

As it turned out no one came up for bear season 😒 and I wasn't going out alone, Diane made me a nice breakfast and we just enjoyed the morning.  It rained/drizzled most of the day. I had to hike the mountain to do rearranging of hunting supplies on the two tree stands. As I made my way up the hill the rain picked up and I was downright wet and cold until I made my way back to the truck. I got a warm shower as soon as I got home.  Cold rainy day, we had soup and grilled cheese.

Sunday 24 November 2024

Another rainy windy day. It was warm, but rainy.  I had forgot a few things up at the hunting stands so back up the hill I go.  Although today I managed to time my hike a little better and stayed dry.  Diane went to the grocery store and just an ordinary day at the Moho.  We did set up a bit and had steak and shrimp cooked in the air fryer.  That went well. The shrimp cooked much faster than her steak but managed to enjoy it anyway.  And the wine helped.

Monday 25 November 2024    Happy Birthday Brad

My special day. And the weather was really nice for a change.  I went over to Norman's hill, hiked up with my outer hunting clothes so I don't get to awfully overheated walking up on Saturday. I hope this is the last trip before opening day this Saturday.  I think that completes the preparations for hunting season.  Now all we need are some deer to show up. Diane walked over to the sporting goods store and picked up a new sling for her rifle.  I worked on the Moho for a bit. Ran the engine, checked oil and antifreeze level and dumped the tanks.
Meanwhile back at the ranch Diane was making me home made lasagna (keto).  I love it but it takes a long time to make. And of course; dark chocolate brownies.  And OH, my they were both very good.  And like always, good times have to come to an end.  As we sat eating dinner the mortgage lady called with a whole list of things she needed and needed them ASAP. Finished eating and started gathering, coping and scanning data to send tomorrow. What an end to a great birthday day.

Another crazy crazy week.

 Sunday 10 November 2024

Today I challenged my last functioning brain cell.  I started the battery replacement right after breakfast.  Well, kind of right after breakfast like about 10 am. It wasn't as easy as you might think.

One Battery, there
were 8 to change.

Eight batteries and a whole lot of heavy stiff cables to disconnect and reconnect. Yes, I took a lot of pictures.  By lunch time the job was complete. I cleaned up loaded up the old batteries, did I mention they are very, very heavy for an old man. Got them all loaded up and headed back to Sam's club for my deposit.
Meanwhile Diane spent her day running around getting food back in the house. BJ's for rotisserie chicken, Karn's for shrimp a few other stops. Back home it was dishes, laundry and started dinner.
It was 6:30 or so till I got home.  We had dinner.  Another hectic day came to an end!

Monday 11 November 2024   Happy Veterans Day

Back at it first thing this morning, well after a nice, cooked breakfast. πŸ˜ƒ Last day before heading back to Tioga County. Diane spent most of her day getting last minute supplies Sam's club, Trader Joe's and butcher shop plus she had to stop at Chick-fil-a for lunch.  I washed the truck windshield inside and out then off to see tax lady, the storage unit and hardware store.  We both finally made it back to the Moho. I washed the Moho windshield inside and out plus the mirrors. The RV shop gave us a FREE courtesy wash, (perhaps the worst wash ever) widows and mirrors were so streak I could barely see to drive. Enough of grumbling. πŸ˜’   Diane made fish for dinner with wine, we had a nice evening.

Tuesday 12 November 2024

On the road again. We had a quick breakfast (yogurt) finished packing up and were pulling out at 10:15. I'm in the Moho towing the car and Diane is driving the truck. We met up in Selinsgrove for lunch. Rudy is always happy when mom checks in on him. The check engine light is still coming on and off as we travel.πŸ˜•  Back on the road after lunch it is very, very windy today so I will avoid the high bridge over the river at Northumberland and the one at Blossburg just don't want to get blown off.πŸƒ Other than the wind a nice day to travel.  I was avoiding the bridge in Blossburg winding up old route 15 finally going up the ramp to US15 there was an terrific crash/bang/clang from the middle of the Moho. πŸ˜• I pulled over right away. I turned around and the coffee pot was dangling by its cord, water splashed everywhere, and Rudy was scared. I threw down some towels, put the coffee pot in sink (appeared not to have broken) consoled Rudy for a bit.  Just as I hit the highway Diane called to see how I was making out. πŸ˜‘ Really kind of lucked out.
We didn't arrive in Westfield until 3pm. There was a bad accident in Elkland, a car rolled over on it's side traffic snarled as crews worked on freeing people trapped inside.
As soon as we parked and set up Diane ran water through to coffee pot to make sure it is works and it did. PHEW what a relief. She made stir fry for dinner spiced up with mushrooms and those little corn ear things. YUM

Wednesday 13 November 2024

Another really nice November day sunny and in the mid 50's. We had a cooked breakfast just kind of enjoyed the morning. I went to Ben's picked up "all" of the hunting stuff. The truck was full inside the cab as well as the bed. Didn't know we had that much stuff. As I head back to Westfield I hear that dreaded ding from the dashboard, low tire pressure second time in two weeks.  I stopped at the Moho unloaded most of the hunting supplies and took the truck to the garage right behind the campground and walked home.
Diane spent most of the day being bored. πŸ˜’ Just to get out, she walked up to the sporting goods store and picked up some supplies.  By the time she got back they were done with the truck (roofing nail in tire) and they drove it back. Just good to know it is fixed.  I tried to organize my hunting clothes.  Diane took a few more walks around town before making burgers for dinner. She used the air fryer instead of grilling (to cold).  Air fryer work pretty well.

Thursday 14 November 2024

Diane packed up and ready to head down to dog sit for Lynne.  Rudy and I were sad to see her go. but we sucked it up and watched her drive off. As I packed the truck to go hunting. I did wait an hour or so to comfort Rudy and have some lunch before heading out.
In case you forgot we just bought a house and Diane (my IT person) was barely out of sight when the phone starts ringing. Then one call after another as everyone seems to need paperwork to get the buying process rolling.
Believe it or not I didn't see a thing hunting. I came in had some left over and started a list of information/paperwork I needed.

Friday 15 November 2024

Diane's first day at Lynne's was not boring.  She took care of Cody and before she could rest it was time to go get stuff together for the bank, insurance co. and finance people and she only has today to get

Code was Content!
it all done! 😐 A whole lot of driving, making copies, phone calls and more driving.  But she got it all done before offices closed for the weekend.
As for me I went hunting morning and evening.  Believe or not I didn't see anything, sitting in the woods talking on the phone and forwarding emails, etc. to various people. Yogurt for breakfast in for lunch, salad with chicken on it last of the leftover for dinner.
Back to the Moho more leftovers before calling it a night.

Saturday 16 November 2024

Diane visited kids, back to Lynne and Ricks to spend time with Cody and grab a quick lunch.  Off to Bev's for a visit and try to get Weis Market e-coupons loaded.
I started with yogurt for breakfast then out hunting, and this time I saw a nice buck, shot at it and hit. I was all excited but as I began to track, I knew it was not a good shot. Very little blood and it never laid down. After an hour or two I gave up. πŸ˜ŸπŸ˜• In for lunch salad with chicken on it. Walked Rudy then back out for the evening. No luck. Leftovers for dinner.

Sunday 17 November 2024

This is supposed to be my day off but, Sunday hunting allowed this year so I went out in the morning.  I saw 3 doe, to far away.  In for salad with chicken for lunch, back out saw a spike far away. Illegal anyway should have stayed home rested.
In case you didn't notice I've had yogurt for breakfast, lunch has been salad with chicken on it and leftover for dinner. Today I'm switch'n it up. Leftover are all so hot dogs for dinner.😏
Diane and Lynne went to see Pentatonix at the Giant Center, she said it was a great Christmas Concert.  They did a fantastic show.

The Pentatonix

Monday 18 November 2024

Diane finally comes home today. I still had yogurt for breakfast and salad for lunch. πŸ˜’ No hunting for me, I took the second blind up Norman's. Went to the cabin to site in our rifles, guess what, I had no

Hunting Tent.
bullets. 😁 Back to the Moho, walked Rudy picked up some bullets and back to the cabin.  Shot Diane's rifle nice grouping but 4 inches high and 4 to the right.  Adjusted shot again and I was done.  Picked up my rifle fire twice walked down to check; I didn't even hit target. πŸ˜’ I cleaned up and went right to the gun shop to get it bore sighted.  The guy said it was off more than a foot each way.   Back to the Moho wasn't long before Diane pulled in.  Boy was Rudy happy to see her and maybe me a bit. We talked, had a glass of wine before making the ham loaf and mashed taters(cauliflower) for dinner. When Diane opened the oven there was my chicken from lunch I forgot to put it on my salad. 😟
Rudy and I are happy to have mom home!!

No Time to Unwind!!

 Saturday 2 November 2024

Today started like many other days but ended with a dramatic change.  We went to an auction down in Wellsville right beside Ben's place.  It was like any other auction, a lot of things we liked but won't fit in the Moho. That is until noon when they started the auction of the real estate.  We had looked at it three or so weeks ago but figured it would sell way over our price. The bidding was really over in less than 2 minutes.  Although, the auctioneer kept looking around trying to get 5 thousand more, then 2 thousand and finally 1 thousand, someone else bid.  You talk about highs and lows. πŸ˜€πŸ˜žπŸ˜…πŸ˜“OH YEA. Then he goes into meet with the family comes back out and tries one more time for more money.  It seemed like forever.  Diane was shaking and finally he says SOLD. πŸ˜πŸ˜€πŸ˜ So now we have a house (assuming closing goes well).  We go into to meet with family and lawyer to sign a bunch paperwork. We were so nervous and shaking we could barely sign the paperwork.
The rest of the day is kind of a blur.  We bought the frig and a freezer but mostly just walked around wondering what heck 'did we just do'.
Back to the Moho ate dinner but can't remember what.

A picture of the outside and one of the Kitchen.  It needs painted and some new carpet but if we wanted to, it is move in ready.

Sunday 3 November 2024

We slept surprisingly well.  The day passed without any second guessing ourselves. Of course, no banks, lawyer's offices or settlement companies were open. We made list after list of things to do in the morning. We are still very nervous! It was a really beautiful day, sunny and warm for November and we took advantage.  Lots of walks for Rudy. We celebrated with a bottle of good wine, steaks and shrimp. Tomorrow the crap will hit the fan.

Monday 4 November 2024

Today also went buy in a blur.  Called two lawyers, two banks, two abstract companies and the accountant. Our plan was to pay as much down as possible. No one liked our plan! But no time to waste tomorrow we have to the Moho back down to the repair shop.
The day ended and we literally have stacks of notes lying around the kitchen table. By 5 o'clock our heads hurt, and we have all kinds of numbers swirling around our brain.

Tuesday 5 November 2024

Election Day!  We had a cooked breakfast cleaned up and headed over to vote.  Dreading how long the lines would be and if we had enough time to stand in line.  We were pleasantly surprised.  There was a line, but we got through it in less than a half hour. Back to the Moho, finished packing up and were on the road by 2pm.  We going to the Elks in New Castle DE. It's about 10 miles from the repair shop and we need to be there 9:30 tomorrow morning. The entire trip down Diane was fielding questions from everyone we called yesterday. About halfway along the check engine came on.  Are you kidding me!πŸ˜ŸπŸ˜• And if our stress level wasn't high enough, we missed a turn heading to the Elks.  It was getting dark; Diane found a new route was only 2 or 3 miles longer but went into housing areas and places we didn't want to be in.  Made it to the Elks set up, headed in for a drink. The people were very nice, and we chatted for a while. Back out walked Rudy and had chicken corn soup (homemade I might add).

Wednesday 6 November 2024

Dropped off the Moho right at 9:30 and started driving the 2 1/2-hour trip back to Lynne's. Of course, the phone calls continued all day. We are trying to juggle all the calls and information requests while driving and eating lunch. All of our notes and paperwork are packed in the overnight bag.  Just to sum it up.  The info overload is starting to overwhelm us. The two banks were the worst. Get a quote then the other guys wants to requote and on and on, it went.
We arrived at the Shirk's, picked up a pizza made some more notes and went to bed. Oh, I can't forget the RV shop called a couple time with questions. They wanted to install new batteries for $2,500 more.  No way! I'm done with them.

Thursday 7 November 2024

Lynne and Rick off to work.  We kind of took over the kitchen. Spread all our notes out and continued trying to make a decision.  I did go visit Bev picked up some deer burger for meat loaf tonight.  Drove down to the house wanted to check property lines but ran out of time. Back to the house Diane ran over to Shane's to drop off some fresh mushroom we bought yesterday on the way home. Diane made the meatloaf while I started narrowing down our choices.
We all enjoyed fresh meatloaf and mashed cauliflower (eating healthier). We thought we had a decision then the phone rings. Banker wants one more stab at it. The sellers called looking for settlement information. Oh, we forgot about settlement and it is hunting season. The RV shop called again with more questions but assured us it will be done tomorrow! Took some pain pills and went to bed.

Friday 8 November 2024

Diane and Lynne made us a nice breakfast before we had to get to work on the house settlement. Finally picked a bank and process is started. πŸ˜… The RV shop never called so we just headed down after lunch hoping it will be ready. We arrived about 3:30, I go in ask if it is ready why sure it is. They didn't think about calling us. We all go out, go over the rework they did. Paint looked good, mud flaps were on and installed new skid plates.  Back inside go over the bill and go out ready to roll. Nope, no keys. 😠😑 We wait and wait. I go back inside and finally get the keys and ready to roll. Diane opens the frig and apparently, they didn't plug it in, refrigerator temp was 70 almost degrees. 😑😑😑 This is a never-ending nightmare.  Finally, we are on the road home. It was well after dark and the deer were everywhere and check engine light keeps coming on.πŸ˜• Pulled into Dillsburg, parked and set up in the dark. But we are home!!

Saturday 9 November 2024

I guess the RV shop is done, settlement is under way and stress has dropped. We slept until 7:15 that is unheard of especially for me. Oh yes, I forgot we took the truck to the garage on Tuesday, so we had to go get that this morning. Diane had to get groceries especially after we had to throw most of the refrigerator items away. I spent most of the day researching batteries finally picked Sam's Club and went over picked up 8 new house batteries for just over $1,000 but a far cry from the $2,500 the RV shop wanted. Diane came home we unloaded groceries before she started faxing paperwork to the bank. Another day just plain exhausted. Wings from the VFW and called it a day. Hopefully tomorrow will bring some much-needed down time.

More repairs and off to Dillsburg!!

 Monday 28 October 2024

Let the games begin! Waiting game that is.  We were up at 5:30 am and out of the Moho by 7:00.  I took the keys in dropped them off in the service department and they will call when they know something.  We went down to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, parked in the sun hoping to keep Rudy comfortable while we ate breakfast. The food was good, but I think they need to warm up the plates a bit, by the second or third bite food was cold.  We drove around a bit after breakfast by now it was 9:30 and the Moho was still not in the shop.  Glad we dropped it off early!😟 We killed the rest of the morning, got gas and grabbed an early lunch at Johnons Cafe; that was really good.
Around 1:30 the garage called "they needed to see me" oh goodie, goodie! πŸ˜’ I went in, it needs a DEF header (just a part they don't have). Our choices 1. Leave and schedule another appointment or 2. Stay another night, part should be in house by 8am and three hours to fix. We picked option 2 but that meant no electric or water for another night. We had to run the generator a few hours to charge up the house batteries. They brought the Moho out about 3pm, we got set up, played 2 games of Farkle and had leftovers again.  We were just bored until bedtime, no TV or radio, didn't want to drain the batteries.

Tuesday 29 October 2024

We got to sleep in just a bit. Had yogurt and toast for breakfast and I took the keys in right at 8am.  We sat in the truck surfing the internet for over an hour just kill'n time. We shopped a few stores and drove past the garage; the Moho had not moved.  So, I went in to give them a piece of my mind and as went in the front door they brought the Moho in the back door. Boy, they were lucky😏.  Went and drove around a bit more, boring, boring and more boring. Diane found us a little restaurant in Montgomery, the Station House.  Lunch was good nothing special! We headed back to the garage and

The Station House
got serious about being bored!  Now remember, we have Rudy and can't let him sit in the vehicle.  The Moho finally came out about 3:30😊! About time! I paid the bill while Diane brought the car around.  We hooked up in record time and we roll'n south.  Arrived at Walmar Manor (Dillsburg) by 6:30. Parked put the jacks down had leftovers AGAIN and called it a day.

Wednesday 30 October 2024

No time to rest. We did enjoy a cooked breakfast then back to the rat race.  I drove to Millersburg to pick up some auction items.  Diane cleaned the Moho, did laundry and was off to help watch Chase (he is sick today) before making her famous mac and cheese for the whole clan. I met her there around 4:30 had dinner, visited a bit and left when the little ones went to get bathed. Always good to see them.

Thursday 31 October 2024    HAPPY HALOWEEN

Today was the least hectic of the past week but still crazy.  Down to the RV supply store for a new water inlet valve. Came back installed it, turned the water back on: it leaked. I stripped some threads putting it in so off the hardware store for more parts. Back home tore it apart, put it back together again, this time no leaks😁. Did stop at the storage unit looking for hunting items that seemed to have been misplacedπŸ˜™πŸ˜.  We finally relaxed a bit this afternoon, enjoyed some wine with burgers on the grill. Very warm for October 31st like 80 degrees! WOW

Beautiful sunset while cooking Burgers!!

Friday 1 November 2024

Cooked breakfast, always a good start to the day.  Still warm for the 1st of November. Diane started her day with two loads of laundry then off to second favorite job: grocery shopping. 😁 She also stopped at TJ Maxx, Ulta, Trader Joe's and the Hallmark store.  I worked on trouble shooting an electrical issue with the Moho, then called the RV shop to discuss the fix.  They were busy and will get back with me on MondayπŸ˜–πŸ˜‘.  Back down to the RV supply place picked up some new light bulbs (LED's), back home and installed them. We got cleaned up and met Lynne and Rick at Bone Fish Grill for dinner.  Food was great and friends were better yet, it was a very needed break.

Final fall days in Westfield

Wednesday 23 October 2024

Started off with a nice, cooked breakfast and slowly made our way to the cabin to sort hunting clothes. But we stopped at the old Ackley's store (now a hardware store) and at Robin's Buck Run store first.  It was way past lunch by the time we returned. And after thinking about it and checking internet prices I went back to the store a picked out a pair of Dry-Shod hunting boots. 😁 I got back to the Moho and told Diane about some lawn chairs they had and poof she went over and bought two. 😏 We started out shopping for boot strings and ended up with a $200 plus day. (That included the shoestrings) πŸ˜‰ Wings for dinner.

Thursday 24 October 2024

The first day of the senior 3-day rifle season for doe and bear.  We were up around 4am and ready to roll by 6am.  Headed over to a spot close to Ben's cabin, Diane hunting for doe and I had the bow trying for a buck. It was a beautiful day cool in the morning then warmed up. Sure enough around 9:30 a nice buck walked up within 10 yards but staring right at me. As soon as I moved, he ran but stopped again about 35 yards away. I shot. I went down found just a little blood and after tracking/walking around I had to give it up. We went back, walked Rudy and I decided to stay in and Diane went out for the evening. She came in a bit early I figured she got one, but no she missed. πŸ˜’ But was a great day to be out hunting!  Deer roast for dinner.

Friday 25 October 2024

I was up early for another day of hunting, today I'm bear hunting with the rifle. Diane had another Dr's appointment in NY, so she slept in then off to her appointment and shopping (groceries, wine). She returned cleaned up the Moho and took care of Rudy.
Meanwhile I was hiking up a very steep mountain side to meet up with Ben, Mason and Lorin. Turns out I was the only one to make it to the top.  That was after getting stuck in head high Mountain Laurel. I was sweated head to toe by the time I reached the normal meeting place. After a much-needed break
Giving my feet
a break as well!

and lunch I headed back down the mountain. After some careful deliberation I decided to take the short way straight down the front. Wrong, wrong, wrong!  I took a bad tumble rolling and sliding about 50 feet down the mountain.πŸ˜• I was OK, gathered up my rifle, backpack, phone and all the things I could find and on down the hill I went.
Back to the Moho Diane had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and soup waiting on me. That was so comforting.

Saturday 26 October 2024

Had so much fun yesterday we did again today.  We were off to Norman's hill by 6:30. I headed up to the top, Diane followed a bit later heading to her stand. We stayed until 11 before heading in for lunch.  We stopped at the cabin and ran into Ben and crew.  Mason and Ben shot three pheasants; Mason was ever so proud! 😊 Nobody saw any bears; Logan didn't see a deer within range and Lorin was plain wore out. Diane and I went back home walked Rudy, had some lunch but could not decide on an evening spot to hunt. Problem solved! We didn't hunt. Diane stayed with Rudy while I went up the hill fixed up her stand and moved the trail cam. We haven't had any pictures for a week...not even a squirrel! πŸ˜”. Back to the Moho, tacos for dinner.

Sunday 27 October 2024

Today we are heading to Williamsport to the Freightliner garage.  But first we need to pack up all the hunting stuff and return it to the cabin. Diane made us a mushroom and cheese omelets while I started to pack.  My poor body is so sore from hiking and falling down the mountain side I can barely move, but some pain pills I'm moving right along. By the time I got back Diane had done laundry, dishes and packed up most of the inside stuff. We finished up and were on the road around 3pm. Two-hour drive to Eck's garage. Parked at five, left overs for dinner. No hook ups and we have to be out of the Moho by 7am. This should be good.

Last of the leaves in Tioga County for the year!!
