A cooking fool was Diane today. Woke up to some light rain this morning so Diane put a roast in the crock pot for pulled beef BBQ. Next we headed to the liquor store to shop for some deprived PA friends. On the way back Diane dropped me off for a 3 mile walk back to the Moho. When I arrived she was in the middle of stuffing a whole chicken to bake for diner. Who is this women I thought! She said she was just trying to get ready for the ride north. I say she has been locked up to long. But either way diner was the best.

We did not do a good job of packing this week so today is crunch time to pack. As soon as we got back from the park we got right at it. After six weeks of being in one spot thing were all out of place plus we have a fair amount of supplies for folks back home. It was a great day for packing sunny and temps in the 80's. At least 4 maybe 5 other couples are leaving tomorrow so there was a lot of goodbye waves and hollers (the replacement for hugs and handshakes). After packing and reorganizing we were done with most everything we could do. After a farewell walk around happy hour we had gilled pork chops and headed in.

Saturday 2 May 2020
Believe it or not we were packed and on the road by 9:30. What a beautiful day to travel with sunny sky's 64 degrees while packing and 77 degrees on the road. We rolled right along traffic was very light. I got on I95 set the cruise at 63mph and wait for a rest area. All traffic south bound(except trucks) on I95 was sent into the agriculture check station where out of state travelers were questioned about their point of origin (covid-19). No probable cause for the stop, just think what we could accomplish! Back to the trip. We stopped several times including once for lunch and still pulled into the New Green Acres in Walterboro SC at 4:30 some 314 miles. The drive was easy enough but I think we will stick with our 200 mile a day goal. Feels good to be back on the road. Pulled beef BBQ that Diane made Thursday.
The first picture is where the State Police have I95 blocked going into Fl. All cars had to enter the
test/questioning area. The picture on the right is I95 coming through GA, that is the lightest we have even seen traffic?
Sunday 3 May 2020
We were on the road at 9:10 for another 300 plus mile day. I know, I know this is normally unheard of for us. But these are arduous times for everyone. Same as yesterday just set the cruise at 64mph and wait for a rest area. We stop more than most travelers do but what the heck there is nothing to do when you park anyway. We had to get fuel today Diesel was $2.40 Gas was $1.57(I think). The Flying J we stopped at had very few cars and RV's but the truck pumps were packed and most everyone was wearing a mask. Back on the road another gorgeous day for traveling shorts and sandals for everyone. We rolled into The Carolina Crossroads RV resort at 4pm traveling 317 miles. Burgers tonight one of traveling day traditions.

Enjoying our warm sunny day!!!!!! |
Monday May 4 2020
This is a day of R and R, again sunny nice 80 degrees. Last night was not restful at all about 2:45 am we hear a loud bang that woke us up. Back to sleep and again about 3:30 another bang. We found out the electric was cutting in and out the bang we heard was the surge protector kicking on and off. I called the office at 8:30 no answer left a message and to my surprise the guy called back about 9:15, came out to take a look and electric was back on by 9:30. Next was a trip into Roanoke Rapids to a hiking/biking trail. Not are kind of trail, steep hills and overgrown path we were not on it ten minutes. Not wanting to go back right away we drove over to look at a Thousand Trail campground about 30 minutes away they wouldn't even let us in the gate(covid-19 protocol). Back to Moho started to pack and get ready for another 300 mile drive into the frozen tundra of Pennsylvania. We had left over home made oven roasted chicken with filling and gravy. OH YUM!!
Tuesday May 5 2020
You might need to sit down, we were on the road at 8:50 and that is after another night of electric breaker kicking on and off until 3:30am when I went out and turned it off. Today was not a nice sunny day the temps never made it to 60 and we had off and on drizzle. Traffic however was still very light. . We stopped for fuel two rest stops. We came through DC and I could still use cruise most of the time. And it was noon time on Wednesday. WOW. We arrived in Carlisle around 3pm, parked, set up and Diane was back from Giant by 4pm just as the rain started. She made Jambalaya just to help warm up the camper. Oh, it is great to be in PA. NOT
This one goes down in the record book. This is the beltway around Washington at 1:00PM. It normally isn't this light of traffic on a Sunday morning!!
