Happy Memorial Day!!

21- 27 May 2020  (Happy Memorial Day)

Time just flies when you are having fun.  We are camping at Cole's trucking in Middlebury
Refilling Water,
oh what Fun!!
Center(elec., sewer only), our reservations at Ives Run got canceled.  The weather has been warming a little each day it is now up to 85 daytime and 65 night.  That is way to warm for this time of year.
I hunted a few days, the 21st  and 22nd the weather was nice, no turkeys but nice weather.  The 25th I went out for two hours almost three, no turkey, trees are leafed up you can't see and the bugs were so bad I tried it again on the 26th with the same result. That is it for hunting this season.
We have been getting water from Ives Run only five miles away so Diane has kept up with laundry and such while keeping me busy hauling water 15 gallons at a time.  We did manage 4 days of bike riding/hiking at the rails to trails in Wellsboro.  The second time was a clear sunny day with no chance of rain..... we had a fifteen minute down pour as we finished the last 15 minutes back to the truck. Then the rain quit the sun came out and we were soaked clear through.
Wes the owner brought us a fire ring(after he cut the inside out of a old wheel) and some fire wood
Taking a stroll through Ives Run
found this guys walking around!!

for free.  You can't beat that.  We spent several nights enjoying the fire and that nice campfire smell.
Everything is still closed up here so not much else happening.  Diane went to the grocery store and twice to the liquor store mostly to talk to her old co-worker.  Tioga county will be GREEN on the 1st of June and should return to some kind of normalcy.  We won't be here to witness it. Hope everything goes well especially opening the restaurants, we are just dying to go out to eat.
We will be heading down to Buttonwood Campground to meet Lynne and Rick for the weekend where we will have full hook ups no more hauling water.

Back in Tioga County

Wednesday 13 May 2020

Another week has passed with out much fan fare.  We hope to visit some family while we are here and before we head to Tioga county.  It appears paper products are returning to the store shelves so we are back to paper plates etc.  No more doing dishes twice a day.  It seems people are starting to shop a little more reasonably.  Let's hope things slowly get back to normal.  We did get a fire burning tonight

Thursday 14 May 2020

Well just like normal we all wished for warmer weather and now we got it.  Wednesday morning
This does not belong
in a campground with
a pop-up camper!!
the temps were around 35 degrees and today was 85 degrees we had to run the A/C all afternoon.  I headed over to Trop's gun shop to pick up my turkey gun.  That place was swamped and selection was thin.  The salesman said since the virus hit they are selling guns faster than they get restocked.  But I got mine and headed back to the Moho.   We started a fire with plans to make diner inside but after some wine and talking to the neighbor guy we ended up doing hot dogs over the fire. YUM.

Friday 15 May 2020

Lunch with Bev while she watched three grandkids.  She definitely has her hands full.  We shared a pizza and talked for a few hours.  It was good to see family.  A quick stop at the storage unit and back to the Moho.  Again a fire and sitting outside, feels good to be out doors.

Saturday 16 May 2020

Breakfast on the grill(bacon and eggs)  I worked on washing the Moho Diane went to the grocery store and by the time she got back and we both showered, it was off to dinner with Lynne and Rick.  We ran over to Bone Fish and picked up some Bang-Bang shrimp tacos.  Just for you people keeping track we were out until after 9pm....way after dark when we got home.

Sunday 17 May 2020

After a quick breakfast I went back to washing the Moho and as soon as I filled the scrub bucket it
I got up to get fire wood,
I guess Rudy figured my
chair was now his!!
started to rain.  The faster I worked the harder it rained.  I finally quit I'll just have to finish tomorrow.  And after I put everything away the rain quit and we ended up having a fire and sitting outside for quite some time.

Monday 18 May 2020

We started to get organized for heading up north.  We went to the storage unit to pick up some
They found Rudy' water dish.
hunting stuff and basically rearrange everything in the place for more space.  Just after we got there Sportsman's Connection called and my shells were ready for pick up.  So Diane leaves to go get them while I do the storage unit plus she had things from storage to drop off at Mel's.  It all worked  out good, by the time she got back I was just finishing up.  Back to the Moho get the fire burning and enjoy a glass of wine.  Another wonderful spring day.

Tuesday 19 May 2020

Crazy day today.  We are prepping for tomorrows drive to Tioga County.  Diane was moving early off to the butcher shop back to the Moho before the grocery store.  At least that was the plan.  As she was returning from the butcher shop the refinisher man called and said to bring our table in today.  So we unloaded the truck I head to get the table out of storage then head into Dillsburg, drop of the table and finally back home.  A quick lunch and  Diane headed off to the grocery store.  She gets back unload the get a shower and off to diner with Shane and Morgan.  We had Stromboli from YP just the best.  Back home and start cramping  stuff away fir tomorrows  trip.

Wednesday 20 May 2020

We were up at a decent hour and started right in packing for travel.  But for some reason it was still 10am until we pulled out.  Diane headed to Lynn's to pick up some packages while I headed up the highway.  We forgot to put the wine away before we brought the slide in so we just sat in on the floor with all the water containers.  As you guessed somewhere along the trip it fell over and didn't notice
Rudy looks happy to be
back in Tioga County!!
until my sneaker started to squeak.  When I looked down wine was running all over the place.  I pulled over at a gas station to clean up the mess or at least do some damage control.  Diane arrived just as I finished.  We had a quick lunch and continued north.  Somewhere around Williamsport she found out Ives Run reservation system was back on line.  She worked hard to get us several reservations despite loosing service on and off along with their systems crashing a few times.  After all that we arrived in Middlebury center about 3:30.  Got very thing hooked up and had are usual burgers on the grill.  P.S.  Just a beautiful day sunny and 72 when we pulled in.

Wishing for warmer weather

6 to 12 May 2020

As we all know the weather has sucked this past week or so and that everything is still closed.  Needless to say we didn't do much. We did experience sideway rain, wind driven snow showers and record low temps.  We spent a lot time inside enjoying looking at each other saying over and over what can we do and where can we go.  But we are still together and better times are a coming.  Here are the highlights of the week I really, really wish there were more.

It's May and yes that is snow flurries!!

Wednesday 6 May

Diane filled the cupboard with wonderful Pennsylvania favorites, sweet bologna, Middlewarth BB-Q chips, and Wege pretzels.  Always good to get your home town foods.  Rained all day.

Thursday 7 May 2020

A nice sunny day so we took advantage and delivered wine to Lynne and Shane drove around a bit.

Friday 8 May 2020

We packed up and on the road at 9am for our drive to  Gettysburg Farm.  Diane drove the truck down to pick us out a site only to find out you can't pick a site until the Moho is on site. We ended up  finding a really nice one anyway.   After we were parked, set up and hooked up Diane went to the butcher shop for scrapple and few items she had ordered.  The cold and rain set in and we were inside for the rest of the day.

Saturday 9 May 2020

Wind cold with shower showers(what the heck).  Today was suppose to be Taylor's backyard
graduation.  Since the weather was so bad we didn't go to that but joined in the Graduation Parade, driving by, beeping and waving from the vehicles.  We returned to the Moho but forgot to get water for coffee so I ran into Weis store.  Came home with water plus steamed shrimp plus hand sanitizer plus flowers plus a few other things.  Diane says that is why she doesn't want me to shop without her.

The sign says "Congrats Taylor"
in Braille, pretty cool.

Sunday 10 2020

Happy Mothers Day. Scrapple and eggs for breakfast done on the grill.  Diane got all the well
Beautiful walk!!
wishes from everyone and Mel, Pere and Taylor actually stopped down with a card and plant.  It was a nice day and we managed to walk around the campground a bit.

Monday 11 2020

I headed out for fire wood came back with a whole truck load.  We can a fire every night if we want to.  Diane went to Weis for a few supplies.

Tuesday 12 May 2020

We had breakfast on the grill my favorite,  leftover omelet(ham, bacon, onion and cheese) with a slice of scrapple. I took two cholesterol pills.  I went for propane right after breakfast as normal we ran out at 4:30 this morning.  We went the post office, drug store and then over to Keisha's to check out her porch replacement project.  We got back home and I sent Diane out for a Lottery ticket while I started a fire.  We sat outside most of the evening.....until the cold chased us in.

Diane's enjoying the fire!!

We came back to PA.....Why?

Thursday April 28 2020

A cooking fool was Diane  today.  Woke up to some light rain this morning so Diane put a roast in the crock pot for pulled beef BBQ.  Next we headed to the liquor store to shop for some deprived PA friends. On the way back Diane dropped me off for a 3 mile walk back to the Moho.  When I arrived she was in the middle of stuffing a whole chicken to bake for diner.  Who is this women I thought!  She said she was just trying to get ready for the ride north.  I say she has been locked up to long.  But either way diner was the best.

A map of the trail
we rode/walked!!

Friday April 29 2020

We did not do a good job of packing this week so today is crunch time to pack.  As soon as we got back from the park we got right at it.  After six weeks of being in one spot thing were all out of place plus we have a fair amount of supplies for folks back home. It was a great day for packing sunny and temps in the 80's.   At least 4 maybe 5 other couples are leaving tomorrow so there was a lot of goodbye waves and hollers (the replacement for hugs and handshakes).  After packing and reorganizing we were done with most everything we could do.  After a farewell walk around happy hour we had gilled pork chops and headed in.

This was our greeter
at the New Green Acres!!

Saturday 2 May 2020

Believe it or not we were packed and on the road by 9:30.  What a beautiful day to travel with sunny sky's 64 degrees while packing and 77 degrees on the road.  We rolled right along traffic was very light.  I got on I95 set the cruise at 63mph and wait for a rest area.   All traffic south bound(except trucks) on I95 was sent into the agriculture check station where out of state travelers were questioned about their point of origin (covid-19).  No probable cause for the stop, just think what we could accomplish!   Back to the trip.  We stopped several times including once for lunch and still pulled into the New Green Acres in Walterboro SC at 4:30 some 314 miles.  The drive was easy enough but I think we will stick with our 200 mile a day goal.  Feels good to be back on the road.  Pulled beef BBQ that Diane made Thursday.

The first picture is where the State Police have I95 blocked going into Fl.  All cars had to enter the
test/questioning area.

The picture on the right is I95 coming through GA, that is the lightest we have even seen traffic?

Sunday 3 May 2020

We were on the road at 9:10 for another 300 plus mile day.  I know, I know this is normally unheard of for us.  But these are arduous times for everyone.  Same as yesterday just set the cruise at 64mph and wait for a rest area.  We stop more than most travelers do but what the heck there is nothing to do when you park anyway.  We had to get fuel today Diesel was $2.40 Gas was $1.57(I think).  The Flying J we stopped at had very few cars and RV's but the truck pumps were packed and most everyone was wearing a mask.  Back on the road another gorgeous day for traveling shorts and sandals for everyone.  We rolled into The Carolina Crossroads RV resort at 4pm traveling 317 miles.  Burgers tonight one of traveling day traditions.

Enjoying our warm sunny day!!!!!!

Monday May 4 2020

This is a day of R and R, again sunny nice 80 degrees. Last night was not restful at all about 2:45 am we hear a loud bang that woke us up.  Back to sleep and again about 3:30 another bang.  We found out the electric was cutting in and out the bang we heard was the surge protector kicking on and off.  I called the office at 8:30 no answer left a message and to my surprise the guy called back about 9:15, came out to take a look and electric was back on by 9:30.  Next was a trip into Roanoke Rapids to a hiking/biking trail.  Not are kind of trail, steep hills and overgrown path we were not on it ten minutes.  Not wanting to go back right away we drove over to look at a Thousand Trail campground about 30 minutes away they wouldn't even let us in the gate(covid-19 protocol).  Back to Moho started to pack and get ready for another 300 mile drive into the frozen tundra of Pennsylvania.  We had left over home made oven roasted chicken with filling and gravy.  OH YUM!!

Tuesday May 5 2020

You might need to sit down,  we were on the road at 8:50 and that is after another night of electric breaker kicking on and off until 3:30am when I went out and turned it off.  Today was not a nice sunny day the temps never made it to 60 and we had off and on drizzle. Traffic however was still very light. .  We stopped for fuel two rest stops. We came through DC and I could still use cruise most of the time.  And it was noon time on Wednesday.  WOW.  We arrived in Carlisle around 3pm, parked, set up and Diane was back from Giant by 4pm just as the rain started.  She made Jambalaya just to help warm up the camper. Oh, it is great to be in PA. NOT

This one goes down in the record book.  This is the beltway around Washington at 1:00PM.  It normally isn't this light of traffic on a Sunday morning!!
