Last Days in Nebraska!!

Friday 28 June 2019  Nebraska City, Nebraska

There is light at the end of tunnel for Rudy and I.  Diane is almost back to normal.  After breakfast we headed into town for lunch and visit a museum but we were sidetracked by lunch and an antique store.  We ate at Luigi's in a old train station.  Current owners are brand new. We were setting by the bar and I notice Blue Moon on tap so I ordered one.  No can do, seems they don't have a liquor license yet.  The food was good but expensive.  We split the special(an Italian sampler) the bill was $25 plus tip.  Next was an antique store or two.  The last one was having a moving sale and we found several salt & pepper sets the we absolutely needed.  It was 4:30 before we knew it and to late for the museums. Back home we tried to set outside with Rudy but ten minutes was all we could take.  The heat and bugs just don't give up and I don't want Diane to relapse.  Snacks for dinner, pills for Diane and off to bed.

Saturday 29 June 2019

No end to the heat.  It was 76 degrees at 6:30 this morning.  We headed to the big grocery store 25 miles away at Plattsmouth.  We found it easy enough and decided to go into town and eat before
Found this is downtown
Plattsmouth!
grocery shopping.  It was a cute town on the edge of the Missouri River.  We found a nice Restaurant and walked in.  It was just a sandwich type place, we both order a panni and they were good nothing great.  We walked out heading up the street to visit some shops when Diane noticed all the streets had been blocked off and most vehicles were gone.  As we glanced around ALL the streets were blocked.  After walking a block or so we went into a shop and the lady told us they were having a festival and a food truck war and down town closed at noon. Well, they could have put up a sign, don't you think.  I went back to get the truck and a guy had set his food stand up about an inch from my front bumper.  I drove up got Diane and we were gone.  They didn't get any of our extra money.  Off for groceries, back home, unload and salad with grilled chicken(grilled yesterday).  Once again we tried to sit out, lasted almost half an hour.

Sunday, 30 June 2019

Last day in Nebraska City.  This is a cute town so much we didn't do because of the heat and Diane being under weather.  Museums, wineries, the Lewis and Clark visitor center and several other places we just couldn't get to.  It was good to see Maddie and we will stop back again hopefully lower river levels and a lot less bugs. Diane is back to normal and now my throat is getting a little scratchy.  I did cook breakfast on the grill it was good to get out.  We started packing up hoping to get truck hooked up and most everything packed tonight for our long trip of 225 mile tomorrow.  Diane went to the store alone today.....it was closed.  Looks like the heat will continue for another week.  I'll try not to complain every day.  Grilled stuffed mushroom for dinner will wrap up our stay here.

HOT in Nebraska City

Sunning himself in
90 degree sun!!
Tuesday 25 June 2019

If you remember last post Rudy was snuggled in his blanket.  Temp's are now in the nineties and with all the rain they have had here the bugs are unbearable.  Anyway, Diane is still under the weather, sore throat, chest congestion and aches and pains.  Meanwhile Rudy and I have been busy cleaning cooking, shopping and looking after our patient.  I did go to the grocery store for a few items but mostly we sat around  with Diane sipping on green tea. I did take Diane for a drive around town just to get out of the camper.

Beautiful flowers on
every street light on
every street in town!

Wednesday 26 June 2019.

Another hot day.  We have been trying to decide if we should still have Maddie come over for dinner with Diane being so sick.  We stuck with burgers on the grill and ate outside so Diane could keep her distance from Maddie.  I had to go to Wal-Mart!  As many of you know that is not my store of choice.  I survived.  Back home Maddie came over around 5:30 and by then we had shade in front of the Moho.  We sat and talked for a while then dinner and then Maddie left to pack up for her trip to Colorado tomorrow.  It was good to see her just wish it would have been a little cooler.

Thursday 27 June 2019

Diane is still down but not so out.  We had breakfast, Diane just had toast and green tea.  Its just to
One of the mounts at
The Buck Snort!
hot to walk or enjoy being outside.  By lunch we couldn't take it any more, we cleaned up and went to town.  Lunch was at the Buck Snort Restaurant it was a unique place with lots of deer mounts on the wall and the food was OK but, no need to go back.  We stopped at a few antique places but nothing jumped out at us.  Lastly we stop to preview a auction scheduled for tonight but again nothing really interested us.  Back by 4:00 Diane was wearing out more pills and tea.  Just had beans and dogs for dinner.  Rudy and I cleaned up made some Sleepy Time tea for our patient.  I think she may have pulled a back muscle from coughing so had.

Trip across Nebraska

Saturday 22 June 2019

We are in no hurry to get on the road, we are only going 130 miles. After a quick breakfast Diane headed into town for wine and groceries while I packed up the RV.  It is another cloudy/cool and
Summer can't be over!!
misty day. Poor Rudy is wandering what happened to summer.  The temps held steady in the low 60's all day.  Diane made it back and finished packing the inside stuff and we rolled out around 11:30.  We are still traveling route 6 through the countryside.  We had a hard time finding a lunch spot and ended up pulling into a closed butcher shop with a rough parking area(big dump factor getting in and out) but we made it.  We arrived at Hasting RV Park around 4:00pm. It is a stretch to call this a camp ground.  It looked good on the Web Site but the pool has been filled in, the lounge is locked and the office is never open.  We called the emergency number and a guy living in a camper came up to check us in after explaining they don't have 50 amp and we could leave if we wanted to.  It appears the place has been bought or taken over by farm/barn painters using several different company names from 4 different states but all living at the camp ground.  Anyway, we stayed, hooked up and had burgers on the grill in the rain.  It was fun anyway.   For anyone who was wandering we average 40/50 mph traveling the side roads when you include the lunch/fuel stops.

Sunday 23 June 2019

Still cloudy and cool this morning with drizzle so we headed to the Goldenrod Family Restaurant for breakfast and it was a good find.  They had some severe weather here on Friday so we drove around looking at the damage when we stumbled onto an antique mall(huge).  The next two hours or so were kind of a blur.  But when we came back to the truck it got full and we were broke.  But we had so much fun.  Then back to reality at the grocery store and home to Rudy.  Still cool and rainy so grilled cheese and soup for dinner.

Monday 24 June 2019

They actually took 2 sites
and made it 1, nice!!
Woke up with sun shine filling the Moho to the point you couldn't sleep.  We are so happy to see the sun as is all of the mid west folks.  The farm fields are lying full of water and even the gutters along the road are still full of water.  We had breakfast and slowly packed up the Moho.  We pulled out around 10:30 heading for Nebraska City to visit Maddie for a day or two.  I had to hunt for my sunglasses and hat, it been a while since we drove on a bright sunny day.  Still traveling Route 6 and again we had a hard time finding a lunch stop.  Finally at 1:30 we pulled into a mini mart, restaurant, truck stop, and liquor store combo.   And yes it was small but had good pizza.  We fueled up after lunch and went the last 60 mile to the Victorian RV Park.  The park is nice but almost empty.  They are right along route 2 which is closed at the Missouri River due to the flooding. The staff said the drive around for the closed bridge is almost 50 miles and the bridge is not expected to open until September so they will miss the entire camping season.  We settled in, had stuffed mushrooms on the grill with a glass of wine(white).  Yesterday we ran the heat and today it is 85ish and all three a/c's are running.  Diane is not feeling well so she headed off to bed early, then Rudy and I cleaned up the entire Moho before bed.

On the Move Again!!

Monday June 17, 2019

We got up and headed out about 10:00 heading to a little place called Sterling, Co where we had but another appointment for the Truck. We drove separately on the way out, I stopped at BB & B for coffee and as soon as I pulled in Brad texted that there was an accident on I-76, but he got through without too much trouble.  I got on the highway and get to the I70/I76 merge and was parked shortly there after.  Brad called he was at the
Pepper Pod dinner, next to the Love's we planned on meeting at and I was just getting through the accident, another hour drive for me.  I get to the restaurant just as he was walking out with lunch....and what a lunch.  I had the steak sandwich (real steak) with French fries, salad and coleslaw while Brad had the Pulled Pork sandwich with a salad and soup, way more than we could eat and the food was good.  After that we hooked up the vehicles and headed off to the North Sterling State Park.  It was an uneventful ride and we found our spot and were getting set up when I asked Brad about the jack pads, nope not needed, so as I was parking the truck behind the Moho I watched the jacks sink into the ground, should have listened to Diane.  We get things set up, we had burgers for dinner and sat and watch the rest of the campers play in the lake.  Not a bad place, but expensive for a electric only site.  An early evening off to bed.

Tuesday June 18, 2019

We are up and out of the Moho by 8:15 to take the truck to the garage in Sterling Co., it needs brakes,
cabin filter and transmission fluid flush.  We got a lift from the garage to the J and L Café for breakfast, then a walk to the Dollar Store for glasses for Brad, a surplus store where I got a back pack, a few more stores and a lot more walking.  Finally about 1:00 we stopped into the Parts and Labor Brewery for lunch, the food was wonderful.  About 2:30 we call the Korf's Ford to come pick us up and take us back to the dealers where we sat and waited and waited and waited
Storms in the area!!
and waited some more.  Finally about 5:00 our truck went for a test drive and at 5:30 we headed home to rescue poor Rudy.  He sure was glad to see us when we got there, we just hung out and had leftovers for dinner.

Wednesday June 19, 2019

Brad made breakfast on the grill then we hung out making phone calls and getting some things completed that needed done.  After that we headed into town for lunch with another good restaurant choice, salad, soup and a wrap all made fresh and you picked what went into them.   A stop at 2 or 3 different antique stores, the grocery store then home.  Diane ended up going to the laundromat and got all the laundry caught up.  Brad and Rudy walked up to the laundromat and as they walked around the back side of the building they saw a 4 foot snake lying on the sidewalk.  Brad called Diane about 5:30 and bribed her with wine to bring the clothes down to dry at the Moho,  she was back in 5 min.    We had Ribs and coleslaw, salad and what every else was left over for dinner.  Then Diane ran the sweeper and cleaned getting ready for another move tomorrow.

Thursday June 20, 2019

Fisher man!  Looks
like Brad!!
We got up a quick breakfast and then off to the sewer dump where when finished we hooked up the truck and headed out.  We are staying off the interstates and enjoying traveling the smaller roads from town to town.  We picked a little place called M and M's Natural Jaz in Imperial NE for lunch and again we weren't disappointed.  We took a nice break and walked through town then got back on the road headed to a little place called McCook, NE.  We found this little city park of 7 sites, that has elec. and is free to travelers, donations appreciated.  The place was nice and the sites were decent enough, a pretty good find for the middle of nowhere.  The place actually filled up for the night and the storms were so bad, Brad was up every couple of hours afraid the Moho was going to blow apart or be dented by the hail.  Oh well, let's see what morning brings.

Friday June 21, 2019

We got up and Brad made breakfast on the grill and then we headed into town (Oh yea, no hail damage to Moho or the truck). The first stop was the Loop Brewery/pizzeria, the food was wonderful, such great finds on this trip    Our next stop was the local museum and then a stroll down the street to an antique store.  We had passed an antique store at the old Post Office, a grand old building, but it wasn't open.  We ended up buying three sets of salt and pepper shakers and chatted with the owner of the shop.  It ended up the old PO sold to the current owner for a huge price of $10,000.00, wow what a deal and now it is sitting there with nothing much going on.  We walked up and down the street a bit more and then headed back to the truck, time to head home and rescue Rudy.  We got home walked Rudy and opened up all the windows, it is to cool off tonight.  I did talk to the neighbor, they are here for a family reunion, mom is not doing well, might be her last trip....how sad.  Back to the Moho and off to bed, cooling off tonight and lots of traffic into the park using the restroom and who knows what else.  Kind of spooky when people stop in here at 3:00 AM.

What a building for $10,000.00
Beautiful!!

Last days in the High Country

Friday June 14, 2019

We had breakfast.  Then we got ready and headed over to Idaho Springs, CO.  We headed out of the CG and decided to take the back road to town 'Oh My Gawd' (yes that was the name of the road)
A cute park in town!!
....we should have known better.  The road started out decent enough, but about 2 miles into it, it took a turn for the worse, it got really twisty and very steep.  A couple of times we both inhaled as we got to a corner or lost sight of the road due to a down hill slope.....but the total drive was only 5 miles (30 min.) 12% grades and we made it.  We got to Idaho Springs, found a parking spot and headed up the street.  The only way to describe this place is basically a 'Tourist Trap'.  We stopped at the famous pizza place for lunch, pizza was good, service, not so much, an actually spent about 3 hours walking through town and made a few purchases.  We headed home via the interstate, walked Rudy, had a snack for dinner, then texted Shari to make plans for Saturday.

Saturday June 15, 2019

Brad and I with the
O'Donnell Crew!!
We had a quick breakfast and headed out to meet Shari and crew at the 'Dude Fishing Hole' for a little hike to the pond and some fishing.  What Shari neglected to tell us was this hike was down hill for about a mile, which meant the hike out will be a mile walk up hill.  We only stayed about an hour back at the fishing hole and it really was a nice, slow hike out. Need to have a little talk with Shari about hikes for old people.  After that we headed back to Shari's for Chicken, asparagus, and a veggie medley of Kale/onion/mushroom and jalapenos (it was actually pretty good).  We hung out there until about 6:30 then said our good-byes and headed home.  The highlight of the day was Maddie came home and went fishing with us and then while we were at Matt and
Shari's Makira came home and we had a nice time with her.  It's been a nice 3 weeks visiting with the O'Donnell's and we will miss them when we head out. On the way home we spotted 6 mule deer (bucks) walking along the road.  One was very nice buck.

Sunday June 16, 2019

Happy Father's Day to all.  It's a beautiful morning here, so it was little smokies and eggs on the grill for breakfast. The smokies we bought at a local butcher and we must of picked up the jalapeno version. They were so hot we could hardly eat them, but we did.  After that we worked around the Moho doing laundry and packing getting ready for the move tomorrow.  After 2 loads of laundry I remembered that we were going to a state park, without water and sewer, so I had one more load I needed to do, but first a ride through a couple of CG's near by.  We headed out about 12:00 first to a CG at the Arapaho National Forest, then into the Golden Gate Canyon State Park, first we stopped at the Visitors Center then off to the Reverends Ridge CG.  We actually stopped at the park office and asked about the Volunteer positions....it's not that far from the O'Donnell's.  After that we headed up route 119 towards Nederland and ended up stopping at 'Roy's Last Shot Bar and Grill' for lunch.  It took forever to get served but as it turned out, the food was fabulous and the entertainment was quite interesting.  Now the entertainment wasn't inside it was outside, we were having such bad weather and the amount of hail coming down was unbelievable.  It actually looked like there was snow on the ground 'til it quit.  After that we headed home, walked Rudy and watched the storms go all around us and yes some of them hit us.  Just before dark the sky out the front windshield looked pretty awesome, now all is calm and it's time to relax and then off to bed.

The Hail Storm and then the eastern sky at sunset....kind of scary.

Up to higher ground

Saturday June 8, 2019

We got up had breakfast at  home, then about 9:45 we headed up to Matt and Shari's for our planned hike.  She said it only about a mile long.....no problem, what she didn't tell us it was straight up about
Finally made it to the top.
1000 feet.  Brad and I made it, but we were both glad for the flat land at the top and the easy walk down....no up hill both directions to this story.  Back to the house where we had burgers for lunch and just hung out for a while.  We headed home about 3:30, a short walk or two for Rudy, he was exhausted as well and we were all off to bed early.

Sunday June 9, 2019

Breakfast here then about 12:00 we headed out to Broomfield to meet with Morgan.  She has to do an interview on somebody over 65 years about the health history, so Pappy was the chosen guinea pig.  We all get there about 1:00, order lunch and the interview begins.  It wasn't too bad and only lasted about an hour.  After that we stopped at a wine shop, a Caribou coffee shop, Kohl's (no luck on the jeans Diane wanted) and then we headed home with a detour to the Red Horse wearing a gas mask.

The horse was made to remember all who gave their lives here at Rocky Flats making the plutonium triggers.  A development now resides on the property.

Monday June 10, 2019

After breakfast we started packing for the 25 mile drive up I70 to the Central City KOA.  We didn't hook the truck up Diane took it to get prescriptions while I drove up the mountain.  We parked and were set up by 11:45.  I70 is quite steep and windy with 7% grades but the seven miles to Central City were worse.  After a short recovery we worked on getting all the paper work for the Moho finished.  A few phone calls needed made then off we headed to Idaho Springs.  About 1.5 mile away from the  CG Luke called, so back home and more work needed done for the warranty bill.

Tuesday June 11, 2019
Beautiful sunset on our
way home from Shari's

Breakfast at home then we headed into Central City to walk around, check out casino's and have a little lunch. Home about 2:00 then 2:30 over to Shari's where I was making Lasagna for dinner.  Just as we were packing for Shari's Luke called for more questions from the warranty people.  The lasagna and visit with the O'Donnell's was great. We stayed until 7:30 and headed back.  On the way home we saw five mule deer (2 buck) and an elk.

Wednesday June 12, 2019

After a quick breakfast we drove down the mountain and into town.  The big reason was to get the truck serviced but we also had lunch, got gas, and stocked up on wine. On the way back we stopped at an antique store and just as we walked in Luke called.  He had all the paper work done. We were so happy the end has come. No not quite, he is done but we must send it all in to the warranty people. Nothing of interest in the store so back home and left overs for dinners.

of Central City, CO.

Thursday June 13. 2019

A beautiful day, breakfast on the grill, fixed the entry door, worked on repacking a little bit and then worked on the TV until it was time to go. Diane worked for a couple hours printing, coping, and sending stuff to the warranty place.   Lunch was to be steaks but they were still frozen solid, so tuna and salad then time to get cleaned up and to head into the casino's to meet Shari and Morgan.  We all had a fun time, no winners, but a fun time.

Finally done with repairs

Monday 3 June 2019

Today starts the second week of Moho repairs.  The RV repair guy called this morning to say he has parts but is waiting on the appliance guy and audio/video guy and asked me to find the part for the

door.  So we spent this morning calling people, researching parts, and scheduling appliance guy then informing the RV repair guys what we did.  I'm starting to wonder what he is really doing, seems like we are doing most of the work.  'We have the appliance guy scheduled for Wednesday and ordered the door part for one third the costs.  And it is was also the dreaded monthly finance shuffle.  So by lunch time we were exhausted so we drove around a bit and checked out a trail to hike and of course had lunch.  We ate at a place called the 'Croc a Soup', we were not disappointed.  Back to the Moho, Diane went to Target and I had a few more phone calls for repairs. Shane is coming in tomorrow and we are trying to find a place and time for everyone to get together.  By the time happy hour arrived we were tired of being in the Moho and working on the computers so we took a long walk with Rudy and started happy hour a little early!!

Tuesday 4 June 2019

Another nice morning, another breakfast on the grill.  We now have all the repairs scheduled except
for the original RV repair guy.  After the last of the phone calls and ordering some parts for the tow bar we had lunch in the camper. See we can do lunch here when we have to.  Off to the bank, wine store then some shopping in downtown Golden.  Around 4pm we headed to The Big Choice Brewery and Pizzeria to meet Shane, Morgan, Shari and crew. A good time was had by one and all.  Boy, can those youngsters eat I think the ten of us ate 6 pizzas and a large tray of nachos.  We ended up staying until the trivia game was over around 8:30. It was fun but poor Rudy had his legs crossed by the time we got home.

Wednesday 5 Jun 2019

Today the refrigerator repair guy we coming over with a new ice maker.  He got here about 10:30 and
Afternoon thunderstorms
rolling in.
was done and out of here in about 15 min. and that included the time to chat and pay our bill.  After that I ran to the grocery store while Brad stayed home to get some work done, but instead he spent the whole time on the phone chatting with family.  Oh well, that needs to be done as well.  We headed up the hill to the Wrigley's Chicago Bar and Grill for lunch.  We split and cheese steak sandwich and Brad had a bowl of the red chili, which was a bit spicy.  After that back home where I made brownies while Brad went for about a 30 min. hike.  After that we got ready to head up to Shari's for dinner, Shane was joining us for a shrimp boil.  Matt as in the middle of cooking when we got there, so no help was needed, we just sat back and watched as worked in the kitchen.  Shari got home about 30 min. after we got there and Makira got home about 10 min. before her.  Shane texted he wasn't going to make it until between 5:30 and 6:00, so we held off eating until 6:00, but we just couldn't wait any longer.  The meal was delicious and there was even enough left to feed Shane when he got there.  We hung out until about 8:00 then headed home, leaving Shane on the floor playing Lego's with Matthew.

Thursday 6 Jun 2019

Got up to another beautiful morning, so Brad made bacon and eggs on the grill.  After breakfast Brad called Luke to try and schedule the last of the repairs to be completed.  He figured either this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon, so Brad asked that he call when he's on his way.....so now what do we do?  We decided to get cleaned up and head into Golden, we wanted to check out the CG that's in there and hit a few more of the stores.  We got into town, parked, walked about 2 blocks when the phone rang, the repair guy was already at the Moho.  We told him we would be there in about 15 min., so in the mean time he was going up on the roof to put the AC fan in and put it all back together.  So as we head back home, poor Rudy is in the Moho while some stranger is walking around the top of the Moho.  We got home, he put almost everything back together, and then he was gone.  Brad was putting the piece of wood back above the refrigerator, when I hear a bit of cursing, he tore a small hole in the ceiling....just another thing to get fixed.  So his frustration gets the best of him, so we go shopping.  First stop was Bed, Bath and Beyond then off to look at some Jeeps and talk with the salesman.  That made him feel better, so back home a walk or two for Rudy, cleaned up the house, and snacks for dinner.

Friday 7 Jun 2019

It has been 10 days since the RV repair guy started our little adventure.  Today the audio/video guy installed the new switch box and we are all done.  We have A/C working, ice being made, can watch
All the removed broken parts?
all three TVs, and a new water pump.  The appliance and audio/video guys were the best, very professional and very knowledgeable, the RV guy not so much.  But we are done except to try and collect from the warranty people.  We had lunch, watched a movie now that the DVD player works then headed into town to check out a few stores we missed.  Back home just in time for the afternoon thunderstorms.  Tomorrow we are heading up to Shari's to hike up over the mountain.  I'm kind of thinking I should get a can of oxygen for the hike.

Visiting in Golden

Friday May 31 2019

We were planning to go to Lookout Mountain when Shari texted with some other ideas and after a lot
Beautiful view from
the Mountain top!
of  "well what do you want to do" we stuck with Lookout Mt.  It was a nice day sunny 65ish as we headed up the mountain.  I was planning a hour and a half for the trip then back down for lunch. As we pulled in after a 15 mile switch back trip averaging 10 mph it was already 12:30 and  I remembered I hadn't filled the gas tank.  We had 70 miles to empty. We walked a short trail to the summit and what a view.  Now to my very pleasant surprise they had a café.  Yea,  first order of business lunch.  We shared a

attack at a stop

buffalo burger and bowl of buffalo chili for only $21, but it is the only place.  After eating something we felt better and walked around seeing Buffalo Bill's grave and visiting Museum both are here at the top of the mountain. We learn so much visiting these places, Bill was a big supporter of women's rights,  an avid environmentalist and encouraged native Americans to continue there native customs and traditions.  We walked back to the truck drove down the mountain stopping for pictures at two different overlooks and arrived at the GAS station with 51 miles to empty. phew!  Stopped for steaks and had steaks and salad for dinner. Just had brought the food in when a thunderstorm rolled by but only lasted a few minutes.

Saturday 1 June 2019

Another beautiful morning here.  A quick breakfast and off to meet Shari and crew for a tour of the
Shari and kids already for
the tour!!
Celestial Tea Factory and then Lunch at the Avery brewery. The Tea Factory was an interesting place to visit and the tea in the store was only $3 a box. Matt graciously stopped at the brewery ahead of time to get us a table and lucky for him it was only a two beer wait. We shared the Loaded Big Board, a huge plate of ribs, chicken, sausage, pulled pork, coleslaw and rolls.  The four of us ate all we could and we still had two containers to take home.   And the kids order for themselves McKayden had loaded fries and a soft pretzel oh to be young again. Matt and Shari headed off to Lowes and we came home walked Rudy and Brad had Tums for dinner.

Sunday 2 June 2019.

The mornings here have been wonderful and it continued this morning.  However each afternoon we get strong thunderstorms.  They don't last long but some have hail and strong winds with them we just can't get a nice evening.  We made eggs and bacon on the grill cleaned up and headed to watch the O'Donnell's play indoor soccer.  With indoor soccer the field is boarded like a hockey rink so the ball never goes out of play and clock never stops. The four O'Donnells were exhausted but were headed to another game. We went to Lazy Days in Denver to look around but it was closed. Darn.  The thunder storms rolled in so we headed home. To morrow should see some progress with our repairs or least we hope so.  Walked Rudy when the rain would let up and just had a salad for dinner.

Colden CO visit with Shari and family

Sunday May 26, 2019

Getting ready for tomorrows trip.  Diane went to the commissary and I washed the front of the RV and started to clean up.

Monday May 27, 2019

We got up, packed and ready for our move, since we are only going about 100 miles, no hurry.  About
Our site for the next two weeks!
10:00 we fired up the Moho, hooked up the truck...no brakes.  We worked on that for a while then Brad finally found the part he needed but it didn't fit.  We pulled out of the site, parked along the road up at the office while he worked some more and finally got it to work and off we go. (that was caused by us dragging the air-line and ruining the plug).  The rest of the ride was uneventful except for a lot of construction, and we drove 20 miles out of our way to stop for fuel at a Flying J.  We arrived and were parked by 1:15.  We got settled in, walked Rudy then packed up the car and headed up to Shari's.  We took up burgers, wild boar sausage and 1 buffalo burger.  Salad, baked beans and short cake for dessert.  Shari's friends Dave, Julie and their daughter Holly showed up. We had a good time and headed back around 7:30

Luke with Golden RV Repair showed up at 9:00 to work on a list of repair items. He fixed the water bin door, the passenger side mirror, worked on the TV matrix, the fridge(no ice maker) and the item that started it all the roof A/C unit.  By lunch he had done all he could do without parts.  Needed to order parts call in a Audio/Video specialist and an appliance repair guy both of which we have to be paid separately.  He is trying to work with our warranty place but I don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about that.  We ended up giving him a $800.00 check for today and to order parts. But things are getting fixed and moving right along. Around 2:00 the Audio/Video guy stopped by to look at our TV box yep it is shot, $700.00 to replace but he recommends an upgrade for about $1400.00.   After that into town to the Chamber of Commerce and trip around town to check out some of the sites and  a stop at the Mexican restaurant for dinner. Their sign said best seafood in town Brad was so excited, but shrimp in a fajita wrap is not seafood to him let alone ("Best it Town).

Ice maker and AC fan removed!

Bagels for breakfast then wait for the appliance repair guy to call, he called at 8:30 to say he would be here between 10 and 12 so we waited. He got here about 11:00 work for about a hour we had to pull the frig all the way out (what a struggle) turns out there was a loose wire and a bad ice maker.  He has to order parts and will be back next week.  Diane is so excited about having the refrigerator sitting in the middle of the kitchen(not) and we did manage to get it pushed back in place which is very difficult since the wheels have been removed.  We drove over to Camping World looking for parts, what a zoo, couldn't find a place to park, they have gotten rid of all the hitch and towing supplies and replaced that with boat supplies, life vest, tow ropes etc.  That is why friends don't let friends go to Camping World.   We stopped and got some wraps and had left overs for dinner.

Got up to a beautiful morning, cool but sunny.  We decided to have breakfast on the grill for the first time in a long time, so sausage and pancakes it was.   A couple three more phone calls back and forth with the RV repair guy and it was almost lunch. Shari called and we made plans to go up for chicken on the grill.  First we had to go in town to the grocery store and then we were off.  Now since we are so smart we decided to take the scenic road up over the mountain through Central City and down to Shari's.  It was only 20 miles farther. As luck goes there was an accident on I-70 so we  took the side road where a tractor trailer had the road blocked for ten minutes but we finally made it to Central City a unique mountain town with several casinos and out next campground.  From then on the road deteriorated slowly until we were on a gravel  road heading down 9% grades with several switch backs.  And we found out they didn't waste money putting up sharp curve signs or Diane's favorite no guard rails of any kind.  We finally made it but instead of getting there at 3:00 it was 4:00.  The chicken got grilled and we had a wonderful time.  We headed home around 7:30.
Beautiful views from I-70
