Goldsboro, NC

Sunday - May 5
Off to the Exchange, were we did find a pair of jeans and kaki pants for Brad, then headed over  to the Commissary.  We were out of food in the RV so we did some grocery shopping.  Back home put it all away, then just hung out did some bike riding and more hiking around the CG.  Now I know that going shopping doesn't sound like much, but we did a lot of looking around so it was actually a 3 hour trip.

Monday - May 6
Brad headed out to find the MWR to pay for the campground and then came back.  After that we headed out for lunch and to do some more shopping.  We had lunch at Ruby Tuesday, not my favorite, but we were hungry.  We still needed a few things so off to Target to get them.  It has been a gray and drizzly day, so needless to say, we have no desire to do much.  Back to the RV, dinner on the grill and tune in Bones.

Tuesday - May 7
Brad headed out for a hair cut and to find the alteration shop, while I got showered and ready for our ride.  We headed out about 11:00, off to find Cherry Point and their CG.  It was about 1.5 hour ride there, but we managed to find it.  They actually have a brand new CG, which won't be opened until the weekend of the 18th, so we won't be able to use it.  We then checked out their old CG and to be honest, they couldn't pay me enough to stay there...ugh.  Well now we are only about 30 miles away from the CG we are heading to next, so off we go.  We found the CG....OK, but we are only there for 3 days and we'll have a lot of running around to do, so we can survive.  We did check into a couple of storage places while there, some will store the RV for a week for $1.00 a day, I guess we'll need to finalize some plans while there.  (Getting ready for the family vacation on Salter Path)

Wednesday - May 8
Today was our do nothing day.  Stay home, do laundry, clean the RV, Brad washed the car, and after that we just kind of hung out.  We had a nice day and around 2:00 decided to do a bike ride.  We ventured to parts of the base we usually don't get to see.  We went over to the flight line, but didn't get to see any of the planes land or take off, then headed down these roads, with no idea of where we were headed.  Well 45 min. later we finally find our way out of housing, our quick little ride lasted over about 2 hours and was a little over 7 miles long.  We just had dinner here at home and a nice lazy evening.  We both have noticed that we are spending a lot more time sitting out side here.

Thursday - May 9
Today we had breakfast at home then headed out to find the 'Cliffs on the Neuse' State park.  We found the park, stopped in at the visitors center and got a map, off to check out the swim area which looked nice then off to the cliffs.  You really couldn't see a lot of the cliffs, since you were standing at the top of them, but there definitely was a 90 foot drop to the water.  We did the 1.5 - 2 mile hike then headed out.  It was a beautiful walk, other than the ants.  I stopped at one point to look at something, and looked down to see my foot covered in ants.  My sneaker was off and I was hopping around on the other foot, before Brad could even blink.  We did manage to get me back together and finished the rest of the hike with no more incidents.  There was another trail we were going to walk after a water break, but I had enough ants for one day, back to the RV. On our way home, we headed down some back roads and actually found our way back to the back gate.   Dinner was in the crock pot, so we just relaxed, strolled around the CG and had a quiet evening.

Friday - May 10
Today we planned on a bike ride, but the temperatures to reach 90, we decided another day would be better.  We headed out this morning for breakfast, then in search of a post office and off to find something to do.  We decided to try our hand at geocaching....didn't do to bad.  We started out about 11:30 and didn't quit until 3:30.  We managed to find all 4 that we looked for and ended up seeing more of downtown Goldsboro walking around geocaching than we normally would have seen.  We checked out the old train station, the Court House and a couple of old churches in our travels.  We both were surprised by some of the large old homes and kind of sad that a lot of them were is disrepair.  It was a little warm, but was an enjoyable journey.
