Back to Summary Blogging

Well as you can tell we are back in the land of no internet service.  We set up camp on the 6th May for our fourth year of camp hosting here at Tompkins Campground in Lawrenceville PA. Most days our routine/mondain.  Diane does the camp hosting, I mow/weed whack over at the Disc Golf Course. Occasionally go over and work at Ben’s cabin.

There have been some interesting events/stories to talk about.

It was very hectic the last days in Dillsburg. We were in town for more than a month, more than enough time to get everything done and visit with everyone. Yet we had more stuff to do and we ran out of time.

Saturday the 4th Diane went to Lynne’s, BJ’s, Rite Aid, CVS, JC Penny’s, Wine store and of course Chick-fil-A for lunch.
Sunday the 5th the before we leave, I went to Mark’s to visit and pick up the kayak. Down to visit Ben and boys.  We spent all evening packing up the Moho. I didn’t think it would be this hectic.
Monday the 6th we hit the road at 10am.  With both the car and truck to get up north we moved the truck out of the way, pulled the Moho out onto the road, Diane drove the car around to hook up with the Moho. She had to walk back to the campsite to get the truck. Nothing hard just took more time than we thought.  It was our normal trip (with two vehicles) Diane shopped her way up getting needed supplies while I drove the Moho straight to the campsite.
The rest of Monday and the next few days were spent cleaning up around our site leaves to burn, sticks, limbs to pick up and grass to mow.  The rest of the week was Dr appointments, hair cut (Diane of course) Dr’s appointment for Diane and into the hospital for different tests.

Perhaps the best story of the last weeks was the voices Diane kept hearing.  For weeks she had been hearing clicking and an occasional voice. Sometimes it was more like a beeping noise.  I was thinking the voice of perhaps the deceased original owner trying to tell us something about the coach. Sometime the noise/voices were loud sometimes very faint. But I never heard them. I was starting to worry; we would be sitting here having dinner she would jump up and say there they are again (the voices).  She opened all the cupboard doors and listened.  I even told her I heard them just to comfort her.  Finally, one day she could understand the voice it said to (press the button to continue) Now she was sure it was something electronic and searched the Moho for the culprit. But she couldn’t find anything.  Then one morning I was dumping the tanks, and I heard the voice. I opened the next door over and I found it.  Someone put a smoke detector in the basement area.  Not Just any smoke detector, but the ultimate deluxe version with “voice announcements “.   Yes, they do make them!  When the battery is low, they chirp/beep for 10 days. After that they beep followed by an announcement “press test button.” And finally in plain English “replace battery now”
Mystery solved!! Things we learned, Diane is not hearing voices, Moho is not haunted and I need hearing aids.

Less interesting story. I went hunting three different days, first day very thick fog seen more hunters than turkeys. Second day nice weather, no turkeys, missed a coyote and got a little bewildered on the way out. Days three foggier than the first day, no hunters, no turkeys, no coyote and no fun. That was it for me for this year.

Fog in the woods

Memorial Day weekend - Happy Memorial Day and thanks to all who have served!!

Diane was hosting this holiday weekend! And it was very busy A lot of campers came in Thursday, over 70 on Friday. A few motorcycle campers came in Saturday, and we were full every site including tent/hike-in sites.
All went well until Sunday evening around 8pm. We were officially off duty at 6pm but sign stays out all day. While enjoying a nice glass of wine, a camper came running over to report very loud yelling and cursing with lots of “F” bombs and was fearful that violence was about to erupt. She scared Rudy, he barked flew out from under the Moho barking like crazy, knocked over our table and our wine was gone. Before we could re-act another camper drove up to report the same incident. Diane was gathering info from the campers and I walked down to check it out and yes, I took protection along (Rudy).  It took me just two minutes to walk down and all was quiet.  Walked around a bit, not a peep out of anyone. After talking to a guy walking his dog apparently the argument (very loud) was between friends about whether or not they were doing the “planned fish fry.”   Go figure!

Monday 27 May 2024

We are off duty. None of the campers remember last night. Just as well. Cloudy on and off thunderstorms and we are relaxing/recovering.
As we stumble along with no TV, poor cell service (texting works(sometimes)), and of course no internet I will do my best to keep the blog updated.

House hunting ???

 Monday 22 April 2024

Diane went to join Elk's or at least to fill out application.  There are a lot of Elk's locations with camping spots, no sewer but most have water and electric.  She ate lunch at Chick-fil-A, stopped at Aldi's, Rite Aid and finally to the car wash, got rid of the dirt finally.  Brad stayed home and trimmed the brush behind the Moho.  Not sure if he's allowed but it does look much better.  Diane forgot to get wine, so back out she goes to pick up wine.

Tuesday 23 April 2024

Yogurt for breakfast and a nice day for a drive, but we still needed a jacket. We left at 9:30, voted and headed to ARS (Moho repair shop) and to check out a Harvest Host site and make the drive on I 295 to the repair shop.  Drove down route 896 thru Lancaster and on down to New Castle.  Nice drive in the car but a little narrow for the Moho. stopped for lunch at Corner Cafe at the corner of PA, DE and MD (West Grove pa). Parking directly under a Pterodactyl flight path.  I finally talked Diane into sharing a lunch, split a Quesada.  As we walked toward the car I said to Diane look at that poor slobs car it was just covered with giant bird poooo. It was ours, nothing to do about it now.  Arrived at Midnight Oil brewing co about 1:30, checked it out, drove over to ARS, last exit before Delaware River bridge, heavy traffic but easy enough to get to.  Decided to try route 41 back.  It was slower but roads are wider and not as many sharp turns. Back at the Moho at 5pm a 7-1/2 hour day.  Rudy was waiting with his little legs crossed.  Sat outside with Rudy and had some wine. Just felt good to be out of the car and not moving.

Wednesday 24 April 2024

Warmer this morning. We had egg sandwich, wanted a light breakfast before having a late lunch with Jen and Greg. We all meet at Brothers restaurant, had a good time catching up.  We hadn't seen them since Christmas. It was a good time I think we were there 2 hours. But all good things come to end. Back to the Moho and get ready for the second shift.  Diane went to Shane's to visit with the kids and stayed for dinner (pizza) I stayed home, I had a DR's appointment in the morning and didn't want to eat pizza.

Thursday 25 April 2024

My appointment was just after lunch Diane so took advantage of the free day went out to enjoy the sunshine. ๐ŸŒž First was the dry cleaner next the donation stop. Still not having enough fun she goes over to Lynne's for 3 hours of mulching (now that was fun). ๐Ÿ˜… My appointment took most of the day and got Back to the Moho just ahead of Diane.  BBQ ribs for dinner.  Diane was tired and sore, so she was in bed early.

Friday 26 April 2024

I don't know if it is a sign of anything or not but this morning we went to look at a house.  It was up in the Newville area.  A nice rancher on two acres. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿก It needed a lot of updating but was solid.  The basement however had a lot of mold, I mean like two feet up the walls all the way around.๐Ÿ˜“  Anyway we left Newville and headed right to T. J. Rockwell's for lunch with Bev. Always a good visit with her. Back home cleaned up a little, walked Rudy around the campground. Around 5:30 we headed down to Hogan's in Etters to hear Thom sing.  We saw Mike and Karen head in just ahead of us.  We get inside it was like a Angeli family reunion Mike and Karen, Diane and I, Lynne and Rick and of course Chris and Thom and their whole family. we had a great time, good to see everyone. And just to point out it was well after dark when we got home at 9pm. What a busy day.

Saturday 27 April 2024

We went to Brothers for breakfast and to talk about the house. And despite the desire to have a house, we had to pass with all the mold. ๐Ÿ˜’ Back to the Moho and we texted the realtor.
Cleaned up a bit then over to the Shirk's for dinner (clams and shrimp) oh YUM.  We had the clams visited for a while and started Mexican train.  Took a break for shrimp fajita then back to the game.
Once again it was well after dark when we got home.

Sunday 28 April 2024

It has warmed up a bit, after three frosts this week and lows in the low 30's.  Making final prep for trip tomorrow with the Moho down to Delaware to ARS (repair shop). Diane just keeps having all the fun.  Two loads of laundry here, bed clothes to laundromat, went to two state stores, Giant, Rite Aid.  I cleaned, packed up around the camper and mowed grass.  Steak and mushrooms for dinner with coleslaw and grilled Texas toast.

Monday 29 April 2024

We had a 110-mile drive to the Midnight Oil Brewing Co. in New Castle Delaware.  Our only goal was to get there by 2pm.  A really nice sunny day temps in the low 80's.  Took our time had a decent breakfast finished packing up the Moho and were ready to leave by 11:15. Our goal was 10am but what the heck we have no real schedule. Down route 283, to 30, to route 41. The first 60 miles took a hour. Stopped for a lunch break around Gap Pa. The last 50 miles took almost two hours. Through small towns on two lane roads and hit some school traffic in last half hour. We arrived safely at Midnight Oil Brewing just after 3pm.  They are a Harvest host site lots of easy parking, no utilities.  No electric means no A/C and temp right around 90. We sat outside until 6 or so, went in fired up the generator and cranked the A/C.

Our site at the Brewery.  Not bad, 2 other campers there for the night.

Tuesday 30 April 2025

Left Midnight Oil Brewing at 9 heading over to ARS for 10 o'clock appointment. It was about 15 miles to ARS but down I-95, then I-295 there was lots of traffic.  It didn't take them long and we were rolling out by 10:30. Getting out of the parking lot was another story. The technician guided us out with about a 9 point turn around in an overly crowded motorhome parking lot. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ He had us within inches of other coaches. But we made it and were headed home.  Stopped at Dutch Way Farm Market/Restaurant in Gap for lunch. We were walking around after lunch and ran into a co-worker from the Depot. What are the chances.
Back to Dillsburg, parked the Moho and just sighed. Burgers for dinner

Storage unit clean up

 Tuesday 16 April 2024

Time to start the dreaded storage unit clean out /resorting. As soon as breakfast was over I headed to the storage unit.  It didn't take too long to fill the truck up with things to sell, things to throw out and a few things to go back in the Moho. Diane rolled her eyes as I started unloading the truck๐Ÿ™„.  She was happy with the items to sell, 2 chairs, fire pit, roll up camping table and some over the fire cooking baskets. I carried the other items into the Moho. She says put them anywhere out of the way, right! And besides all that, she still managed to make keto broccoli salad and chicken for dinner.

Wednesday 17 April 2024

A few more phone calls about the insurance/repair of the Moho.  But most of the day was answering all the question from FB marketplace after Diane posted the items for sale.  We must have fielded 75 inquires over 8-hour period.  We wanted $15 for the chairs and two different people wanted to know if we would deliver to Carlisle and Lancaster๐Ÿ˜–. You got to be kidding!! Some scammers, they are out of the country but will send their friends over and pay us later. ๐Ÿ˜ก Every stupid question you could think of.  Finally, about 5pm everything was sold, and Diane posted SOLD on FB.  The calls continued into the evening and a few the next morning. All that for $80.00 Next time we will just donate the stuff.

Thursday 18 April 2024

Not much happening today.  I sorted a large box of paper for shredding. That included remove from folder, getting all the metal out, paper clips, staples and  metal fasteners. Not a difficult task but still took hours and hours. Paper included all my military stuff and occasionally I would find myself reading over what I was doing in 74 and 75  up through 93. I had it all done, cleaned up and put away by the time Diane got back from town.

Friday 19 April 2024

Diane spent the day with Lynne out running errands, but the trip also included a stop at Starbucks and wine tasting at the state store. I headed over to their house around 5pm with Rudy. After pizza and wine, we played a game Mexican train.  Rick won but he also was keeping score.  Just say'n.  We had a great time.  It was after 11pm until we returned to the Moho.  Poor Rudy was worn out from trying to hang with Cody.

Saturday 20 April 2024.

I know you are all tired of the storage unit stuff, but we were back at it this morning.  Diane and I went over right after breakfast.  We pulled a lot out of the unit, sorted and reshuffled boxes, some of the selves were sagging hard.  Loaded the truck up again with throw out, donate and repack stuff.  Done by lunch.  Diane went over to UPS store to have the shredding done but turns out it just sits there for about 2 weeks before they actually shred it.  Back to the Moho and I'd say Diane turned ten boxes/bags of stuff down to three while I went over to visit Bev.  By dinner time we were wore out. Burgers on the grill.

 Sunday 21 April 2024

Took the day off today. I went to the cemetery and a quick stop at the storage unit and made a few phone calls. Rebuilt the entrance steps.  Still a little shaky but better than they were. Mowed the grass
They feel a little
safer!!

again(third time). The site beside us has only mowed once and his site looks like crap.  They have four dogs they tie out with a ten foot leash, never clean up poop so it smells like crap also. Anyway much cooler today only in the 50's. Last week we were looking for the shade and now looking for the sunny spots.
Diane and Lynne spent the day playing bingo in Biglerville.  They returned around 5pm.  Had a lot of fun but no winnings.  Even after a tough day at bingo she made us a meatloaf for dinner, yum.

First week in Dillsburg

 Monday 8 April 2024

This week is very busy, getting everything ready for the flight out to Nebraska for Maddie's wedding. Today just the beginning of the crazies. Started off with breakfast at Brothers Restaurant hopefully energy for the rest of the day.   Most important was pick up, sign and file taxes. All done with a week to spare.  Dropped off my jacket at the dry cleaners, hit the wine store and the grocery store.  Got back to Moho about 3, had left over wings for lunch and more left overs for dinner at 8pm. Somewhere in there we started happy hour๐Ÿท

Tuesday 9 April 2024

Today just as busy but never left the Moho. We finished organizing the Moho for a month's stay. We moved and scrubbed the picnic table. I tried to build a safe step outside the Moho just need some more material. It's still pretty shaky, I'll try again tomorrow.  We have been avoiding the bag of mail (2 months' worth) picked up from Lynne's.  Today we had to tackle that job. When it was all over, we had 1 bill to pay. Guess we should be grateful. One of our favorite comfort meals for dinner, sausage and fried potatoes.

It's not pretty,
bet we can get
in and out safely.

Wednesday 10 April 2024

This morning Rudy surprised us by throwing up on the bed.  Seems foil and sticks don't digest so well. So, Diane's schedule was screwed up from the get-go. Quick breakfast and she was off to the laundromat.  She came back I took the car to get the heavy-duty jack pads from the storage unit, picked up prescriptions and back home. She took the car to the Post Office, Karns, dry cleaners and wine store and still made it home for happy hour.

Thursday 11 April 2024

Spent most of the day making calls, sending texts, pictures and emails trying to get the Moho in for the final repair.  No luck yet. Got me all packed up for the flight to Nebraska in the morning. I haven't flown in 20 years. I'm a bit nervous to say the least. The rain, wind and thunderstorms moved in just in time for my flight.

Brad did manage
to mow before
he left.

Friday 12 April 2024

The big day is here. Up at 3am, toast for breakfast and off to the airport at 4am.  I was in the airport by 5am for a 6:15 flight.  I was not disappointed.  The storms๐ŸŒฉ made take off terrible and rest of the flight was just very bumpy.  Landed in Chicago had almost an hour before next flight.  United was nice enough to send me an email telling me to would take 21 minutes to get to my next gate. And apparently that is for a young guy.  I hurried the best I could, stopped at the bathroom and had 10 minutes (to rest) before boarding started. I was a wreck.  Flight to Lincoln was bumpy not near as bad as the first half. Landed at Lincoln, life is good. Lincolns airport has just 5 gates.  Went to the car rental area. One counter same guy does National, Almo and Budget.  Filled out the paperwork and off to find my car it was parked in space one just across from the terminal. ๐Ÿ˜ I finally made it to Shari's Airbnb around 3pm.
Meanwhile back at the ranch Diane wanted to nap but no can do. Every time she was close to dozing off, I would call to give her status update. ๐Ÿ˜‰ The plan was for her to go the Celtic festival at Dill's tavern but with wind and rain she gave that one up. The wind was so bad she went out to put our little window awning up.

Saturday 13 April 2024

My day was fairly uneventful.  Shari's crew took off for wedding prep early morning.  Shari made the remaining family breakfast, we talked a bit and headed over around noon. First gay wedding I was ever at.  Not any different than a regular wedding. The ceremony was over in 30 minutes, but pictures took forever.  Pizza arrived around 4pm, I was starved.  Visited with everyone I knew, had some wine and pizza๐Ÿ•before heading back.
Diane spent most of the day cleaning up the Moho.  She says it is easier to clean when I'm not around. ๐Ÿ˜ I don't know why I'm always helpful๐Ÿ˜. She did manage to get over to visit with Shane, Morgan and the kids for a while.

Shari with Elias before the wedding. Matt and Shari both walked down the aisle with Maddie, and the rest of the O'Donnell girls (plus 1) were in the wedding party.

Sunday 14 April 2024

Oh crap, another day of flying for me. ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜ Visited with the O'Donnell especially little Elias right up until I had to go to the airport.  Said my goodbye's and off I went. Now that I'm a seasoned traveler๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜things went better.  Nice weather and smooth flight to Chicago.  Again 25-minute hiking to the next gate but I made it. Flight home was good until the landing.  Very strong winds made it quite tense as we landed.  Good to be HOME.  Diane picked me up and headed over to Mike & Karen's to get the truck. It was almost 7pm until we started dinner. Some wine and dinner, I was done.

Elias at the Airbnb

Monday 15 April 2024

Oh, it is good to be back home. My own bed, bathroom and got my truck๐Ÿ›ป back.  No time to rest, more emails to insurance co and repair facility. I hope something happens soon.  I mowed our site, before another thunderstorm moved through while Diane went to the grocery store.  The wind has been terribly strong again today.  It did let up enough to cook on the grill this evening.

Happy Easter Heading back to PA

Sunday 31 March 2024 HAPPY EASTER

The weekend end was beautiful.  Clear sunny days ๐ŸŒža bit breezy from time to time but otherwise nice. We were in recovery mode for the most part. Yesterday Diane went into town to the Noble Garden "Saturday farmers market" for fresh veggies.  She drove by just a falling down shed, hasn't been open in years but still shows up on the internet. ๐Ÿ˜ We laughed a bit; good we really didn't need anything.
Easter at Freightliner

Lunch time we went to the Bulldog Snak Shak in downtown Boiling Springs (NC). It was the only non-fast-food place we could find, and the food was good. Boiling Springs is a very small town of 5,000 but home to the Webb Gardner College whose mascot happens to be a Bulldog.
Sunday was another beautiful morning clear skies lots of sunshine. We enjoyed the morning but then it was time to head back to Freightliner Service Center. All set up by 2:30 got the chairs and grill out and enjoyed Easter ham for dinner.

Monday 1 April 2024

The Moho went into the shop around 10:30 and we all headed to camping world to shop for new a patio rug, chairs and entry mat. We scored on two out of three, chair and patio rug. On the way back to Freightliner we texted Don and Bonnie, they too were heading back, so we met at Cracker Barrell for lunch. I think we may have overstayed our welcome a bit, but it was good to catch up with old friends. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Back to the service center, paid our bill๐Ÿ˜“ and said goodbye to Don and Bonnie. Diane went to pick up the last of our supplies for trip back to PA. I packed up the chairs and grill and outside items.

Last view of
the Peach for
this trip.

Tuesday 2 April 2024

We were planning a slow relaxing drive north. Had reservations at Fort Chiswell 180 miles north of here.  I looked at the weather, that whole area was under severe storm warnings with high wind warnings. We talked it over and decided to head east and avoid the storms. By lunch Diane had started to look for a campground, sorry we're full, sorry long term only, full etc. As the hours past we were getting a little more desperate for a spot to park.  I forgot the first week on April is the big migration of snowbirds from Florida back up north and the closer we got to I-95 the less likely we are to find a spot. Finally, around 4pm Diane found a campground. The Cattail Creek Campground in Skippers VA.  She didn't even look at me for conformation just said we'll take it. We followed their instructions. Off the interstate down a two-lane road, then the lines disappeared, then the berm disappeared and the gutters on each side got deep and finally "the sign" narrow road ahead. We made it!  An old small campground.  The host Frank and Sandy meet us as we pulled in. They were very nice, and we decided to stay for two nights and recover a bit. So instead of a leisurely 180-mile day we had a 318mile day.  Wine ๐Ÿทand burgers for dinner!

The horse, mule and goats and our site at Cattail Creek CG.
Nothing much, but it was quiet and roomy!

Wednesday 3 April 2024

The storms are coming.  Diane went to the store while I cleaned the bugs and pollen off the windshield.  By the time I finished Diane was pulling back in. We unloaded the car and just got inside when the storm hit.  The rain came down, the wind blew 'hard' and several tree limbs fell around us, fortunately the Moho was not hit. The storm passed and we eventually got back outside to walk around.  The campground is really "kind of nice" off the highway, horse and goats roaming next door and for a change the water quality was excellent.  Back on the highway tomorrow.

Thursday 4 April 2024

On the road by 10:00 heading to Walnut Hills in Staunton VA.  Not a bad drive. About a hour into the trip we stopped for fuel. The first gas station we couldn't get to the diesel pump, so around the building and across the street to Sheetz, I was going the wrong way, U-turn in the parking lot and up to the pump, nothing to it. ๐Ÿ˜ Diesel was $3.59. Back on the road an uneventful drive except for the wind, it just won't let up.  Pulled into the CG around 3:00.  We ordered BBQ for pick from Sooner BBQ. Ordered 1/2lb of both brisket and pulled pork with two sides.  It was really good and reasonably priced.  Again, we are staying for two nights it is much more enjoyable.  We watch campers pull in at 7 or 8pm, park and are pulling out at 8am.  Not for us. Life is too short to hurry that much when you are retired.  Wind is still blowing hard even down in the CG.

Friday 5 April 2024

A rest day.  We had a nice breakfast, cleaned up and headed out for a 2 1/2-hour drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  But first was lunch at A Taste of Cuba.  Just a small shop in a strip mall.  We both had a Cuban sandwich and a side.  The sandwiches were delicious and huge. We struggled just to eat half of them. Back in the car a headed down the Parkway. The drive was beautiful with the flowers blooming and trees budding.  The wind continued again today with gusts close to 20mph we even had some snow flurries.  One overlook we could hardly open the car door the next would rip the door handle out of your hand. Anyway, we still had a great time.  Time came to head back; Diane mapped us back to 81 'kind of'.  We turned right and down and around and around we went๐Ÿ˜•, switch backs and hair pin turns, and on down and around we went๐Ÿ˜•finally came to the small town of Vesuvius, VA.  Bet none of you know where that one is! ๐Ÿ˜
We made it back to the Moho, dropped Diane off and I went to Tractor Supply to pick up some DEF. The gauge hasn't worked since the blowout, so I figured best just keep some in the car.
Back to Moho and start packing for our final leg of the journey to Dillsburg.  The wind is to still be quite gusty tomorrow, so we are going to try route 340 from here all the way up to route 15.

We saw 2 or 3 small campers, and a lot of beautiful views on the
Blue Ridge Parkway.

Saturday 6 April 2024

Up and on the road by 10:00 for the slooow drive up Route 340.  With car already hooked up we were ahead of schedule. It all started out well enough through small towns, lots of traffic lights and then into the countryside.  No lights but the road got narrow and windy.  With the wind gusts at 20-25๐Ÿ˜ณ mph, we were still happy not to be on I81. Lunch at Walmart somewhere around Front Royal and a fuel stop at Thurmont MD, and we pulled into Dillsburg around 4:00.  The drive was probably at least an hour longer but much lower MPH and more relaxing drive.
Parked and organized the Moho.  This time for a month, so we put more thought into how we could make the best of available space.

Sunday 7 April 2024

Diane was up, showered and out the door to play bingo with all the Angeli sisters at the Lisburn fire house.  I work on fixing/leveling our steps up. It took some time, but they are at least solid. A trip to the storage unit back to the Moho with more supplies. Eventually I was satisfied with them.  Change all the water filters, dumped the tanks and hooked up the water softener.
Around 4pm Diane texted she was finished, and we were having dinner with the Shirk's and was to head over with Rudy. Actually, I think Rudy was the important one. Wings from Moe's, a game Mexican train and the night was shot. Packed everything up and back to the Moho. It was 10:30 when we got back, well after dark, just say'n.  Bradley can stay out past dark! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Four of us girls made it to Bingo and Karen's husband Mike was there.

Busy two weeks

Well, Holy crap two weeks went by in a flash. I'm sure I'll miss a lot but here goes.

Shari, Matt and Mathew flew in from Colorado to warm up just a bit.  The day before their flight they had 50 inches of snow! ❅❅

The O'Donnell
main door.

Thursday the 21st was our day to visit with them.  Diane had a craft class at the rec hall, and I went with them for a hike around McKethan lake. That was nice almost a two-mile walk, and I had only one

mosquito bite.๐ŸฆŸ We had them over for dinner Thursday evening.  Deer loin wrapped in bacon they all loved it. So good to see them. As they were leaving, we noticed a huge ring around the moon. Kind of awesome.
Friday the 22nd we finally got the Moho in for the first repair work from the blow out.  We dropped off the Moho at Allegiance RV repair shop at 9am.  They parked her in the shop, removed the wheel and loaded it in Len's truck, which we borrowed for the day. I took the wheel and new rim over to a tire shop to be swapped out.  Then we waited, waited and waited some more. Eventually Just after lunch tire shop called the wheel was ready.  Picked up the wheel and took it back to repair shop. Still had several hours to kill so we returned Len's truck and had just enough time to meet Shari and crew for ice cream๐Ÿจ before they headed to the airport.  Back to the repair shop and waited! ๐Ÿ˜‘ At closing time they brought her out.  Entire jack assembly replaced and new wheel well lining.  Now we can drive in the rain.  As soon as I park the Moho and got out, I noticed a big gouge on the new $500 rim. I called the repair place they said I did it, I said they did it, nothing going to come of it. We just now have a brand-new scratched rim.

There might be a scratch on the rim, but now we are safe to travel to PA, and with the new jack we are pretty stable again.
The new Jack.๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Saturday we recovered. Shari called; they had 10 more inches of snow!
Sunday time to move.  We packed and drove to Bunnell Fl. We arrived at the Holiday Travel RV Park at 2:45 pm. We made the whole 100-mile drive without any stops. ๐Ÿ˜ The campground is 90 percent mobile homes, and the transient spots were terrible.
Monday into the Classic Coach to get a new induction cook top and new faucet installed. We went to Denny's for breakfast, drove around Ormond beach for hours. It was very windy, but Diane jumped out to get a picture of the ocean before she blew away.  Found a little meat store and picked up jalapeno and cheddar cheese sausages for dinner. The coach was done by 3pm and we were back at the campground by 4. Poor Rudy is having a terrible week and half, he has already spent two days in the car and moved 4 times and still have a bunch to go yet.
Tuesday packed up heading to Lotts Island campground just outside of Savannah. It was a 205-mile

Lotts Island CG might
not have anything,
but we loved our site.

drive mostly uneventful. Except for our fuel stop at Buc-ee's, we just love this place, diesel $3.55 a gallon. ๐Ÿ˜™๐Ÿ˜Š No time to relax we are heading out early in the morning.
Wednesday 27 March   Back on the road, in the rain I might add but we have to get to Frieghtliner Service center in Gaffney SC before the office closes at 3:30.   On the road by 9am 290-mile drive today.  A long, boring, gray, with on and off showers, type of day.  And on some of the roughest roads we have traveled in a long time.  I 26 around Columbia was absolutely the worst, but we made it, and I didn't notice any parts missing from the Moho๐Ÿ˜.  Two quick bathroom breaks, and we arrived at 3:10.  Pulled the brake on the Moho and into the office we went. Finally checked in and parked by 4:30. We are a walk in (no appointment) so you just wait to see if they get us in between 6:30 am and 4pm. Tomorrow, another early morning.

  Thursday 28 March 2024

We were up at 5:30 and ready by 6:30am.  We sat patiently watching the technicians come out and one by one they walked by us on over to other coaches. We waited and waited. Diane went to the store while Rudy and waited and waited.  Around lunch several coaches came out, but still no luck.  There were just too many ahead of us.  Around 1pm we figured we wouldn't make it in today.  And just like that the phone rings they are ready for us, good thing we had two slides in and half packed up.  Threw the dog in the car bring in last slides and were ready. All we were doing was getting the chassis inspected for manage from blow out. Shouldn't take long at all the tech says. Into the waiting room to wait.๐Ÿ˜ Tech comes out inspection went well. He put on the hub cap and greased a couple spots. The second time he came out was different. The expansion tank for the coolant needs replaced. Can't to that today so we have to come back on Monday.
We were waiting for the last time today when low and behold Don & Bonnie Gillman walk into the waiting area. A thousand miles from home and we run into our old neighbors from Little Marsh. Wow couldn't believe it. Now Diane and I are done waiting (Moho is finished) but we sat in the waiting area for an hour talking to them. They started closing up shop, so we headed out, with the promise to get together this summer.
Back to the Moho got Rudy out of the car and into his kennel and we were off to BroadRiver Campground just 10 miles up the road. We wanted full hook ups for Easter weekend.  The place is nice, fairly new, large, wonderful sites but pricey at $70 a night.
Absolutely exhausted, we grilled burger, had an early happy hour and early to bed.

our site.

Slow week!

 Sunday 10 March 2024    thru     Sunday 17 March 2024

Not a lot happening this week.  I'll give the highlights, still spending a lot of time with the insurance company and RV repair shop.  Nothing is fixed! ๐Ÿ˜’
Sunday Diane spent most of the day making her home made Lasagna (keto) including a extra pan for Len. I always eat more than I should, no exception this time! YUM๐Ÿ˜
Monday the only cool day this whole week.  We meet our friends Paul and Marlene at the Freezer Tiki Bar in Homosassa.  We were first in line at 11:30. We all had the 1 1/4 lb. shrimp meal....no leftovers for anyone.  We ate and talked for two hours. They are from Canada, and this may be the last year come down. Some kind of rule with the government health insurance. Kind of sad when we said goodbye.  But maybe Diane and I will make it Canada next year.
Tuesday kind of a stay at the campground day.  Breakfast at the club house this morning, biscuits and gravy this morning.  Good stuff.  We spent hour upon hour planning our trip home.  Hours of mapping, then calling umpteen campgrounds trying to make a reservation.  Frustrated and eyes blurring we quit with just one reservation at Lotts Island. Diane went to Bingo first time this year and won $49. ๐Ÿ˜  Regulars were not happy.
Wednesday the temperatures returned to the mid 80's.  Shorts and flip flops dress code for the week. Diane went to the verizon store to have them separate our phones.  No can do... says the verizon guy.  There has got to be some way, we will try another store.
Thursday a beautiful sunny and warm day. We had a yogurt breakfast. Saving our appetite for and nice seafood lunch. We went to The Fisherman's Cove, one of our favorites. They had the fresh clams today sign out, so we started with that.  Diane had the grouper dinner, and I had the shrimp and scallops. And Oh was that a good meal. Left the restaurant, picked up some flowers and went to the cemetery.

I can't believe Shawna has been gone almost 7 years now. Back to the Moho.
Friday was just as warm.  We worked around the Moho. The latch broke on the silverware drawer, so I'm pretty smart I ran down and picked one up at Optimum RV just down the road. $17 for a drawer latch. I fixed the drawer; mean time Diane looked them up on amazon $6 for 4 of them.  Now I have backups. I also fixed the fantastic fan in the bathroom.  Had to order the entire crank assembly for $52, it arrived yesterday. I couldn't get it to work right so I called the Company. Yep, wrong part, they don't make the one I need anymore. ๐Ÿ˜ž I really only needed the plastic housing so, I removed motor etc. swapped out housing and we were back in business.
Saturday we started packing (mostly reorganizing) the basement storage area.  The campground put on some entertainment in the afternoon. Not too bad, a woman singer. She sang mostly Patsy Kline with a nice mix of other songs. We were planning to go a Japanese steak house. It was such a sunny warm day we opted for white wine and burgers on the grill. ๐Ÿ˜
Sunday 17 March 2024.  Happy St. Patricks' Day.  The weather continues to be warm. We washed the car and spot washed the Moho.  The campground had a St. Patricks' day dinner. Diane made cooked cabbage with onion and bacon; I had my doubts, but it was really good. Dinner started at 4pm and was over and cleaned up by 5:30. (partying old people๐Ÿ˜‚). I went over picked up the last of our packages from Len's and had to get a picture of his shirt.
