Sunday 31 March 2024 HAPPY EASTER
The weekend end was beautiful. Clear sunny days 🌞a bit breezy from time to time but otherwise nice. We were in recovery mode for the most part. Yesterday Diane went into town to the Noble Garden "Saturday farmers market" for fresh veggies. She drove by just a falling down shed, hasn't been open in years but still shows up on the internet. 😐 We laughed a bit; good we really didn't need anything.

| Easter at Freightliner |
Lunch time we went to the Bulldog Snak Shak in downtown Boiling Springs (NC). It was the only non-fast-food place we could find, and the food was good. Boiling Springs is a very small town of 5,000 but home to the Webb Gardner College whose mascot happens to be a Bulldog.
Sunday was another beautiful morning clear skies lots of sunshine. We enjoyed the morning but then it was time to head back to Freightliner Service Center. All set up by 2:30 got the chairs and grill out and enjoyed Easter ham for dinner.
Monday 1 April 2024
The Moho went into the shop around 10:30 and we all headed to camping world to shop for new a patio rug, chairs and entry mat. We scored on two out of three, chair and patio rug. On the way back to Freightliner we texted Don and Bonnie, they too were heading back, so we met at Cracker Barrell for lunch. I think we may have overstayed our welcome a bit, but it was good to catch up with old friends. 😊
Back to the service center, paid our bill😓 and said goodbye to Don and Bonnie. Diane went to pick up the last of our supplies for trip back to PA. I packed up the chairs and grill and outside items.

We were planning a slow relaxing drive north. Had reservations at Fort Chiswell 180 miles north of here. I looked at the weather, that whole area was under severe storm warnings with high wind warnings. We talked it over and decided to head east and avoid the storms. By lunch Diane had started to look for a campground, sorry we're full, sorry long term only, full etc. As the hours past we were getting a little more desperate for a spot to park. I forgot the first week on April is the big migration of snowbirds from Florida back up north and the closer we got to I-95 the less likely we are to find a spot. Finally, around 4pm Diane found a campground. The Cattail Creek Campground in Skippers VA. She didn't even look at me for conformation just said we'll take it. We followed their instructions. Off the interstate down a two-lane road, then the lines disappeared, then the berm disappeared and the gutters on each side got deep and finally "the sign" narrow road ahead. We made it! An old small campground. The host Frank and Sandy meet us as we pulled in. They were very nice, and we decided to stay for two nights and recover a bit. So instead of a leisurely 180-mile day we had a 318mile day. Wine 🍷and burgers for dinner!

The horse, mule and goats and our site at Cattail Creek CG.
Nothing much, but it was quiet and roomy!

The storms are coming. Diane went to the store while I cleaned the bugs and pollen off the windshield. By the time I finished Diane was pulling back in. We unloaded the car and just got inside when the storm hit. The rain came down, the wind blew 'hard' and several tree limbs fell around us, fortunately the Moho was not hit. The storm passed and we eventually got back outside to walk around. The campground is really "kind of nice" off the highway, horse and goats roaming next door and for a change the water quality was excellent. Back on the highway tomorrow.

On the road by 10:00 heading to Walnut Hills in Staunton VA. Not a bad drive. About a hour into the trip we stopped for fuel. The first gas station we couldn't get to the diesel pump, so around the building and across the street to Sheetz, I was going the wrong way, U-turn in the parking lot and up to the pump, nothing to it. 😁 Diesel was $3.59. Back on the road an uneventful drive except for the wind, it just won't let up. Pulled into the CG around 3:00. We ordered BBQ for pick from Sooner BBQ. Ordered 1/2lb of both brisket and pulled pork with two sides. It was really good and reasonably priced. Again, we are staying for two nights it is much more enjoyable. We watch campers pull in at 7 or 8pm, park and are pulling out at 8am. Not for us. Life is too short to hurry that much when you are retired. Wind is still blowing hard even down in the CG.
Friday 5 April 2024
A rest day. We had a nice breakfast, cleaned up and headed out for a 2 1/2-hour drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. But first was lunch at A Taste of Cuba. Just a small shop in a strip mall. We both had a Cuban sandwich and a side. The sandwiches were delicious and huge. We struggled just to eat half of them. Back in the car a headed down the Parkway. The drive was beautiful with the flowers blooming and trees budding. The wind continued again today with gusts close to 20mph we even had some snow flurries. One overlook we could hardly open the car door the next would rip the door handle out of your hand. Anyway, we still had a great time. Time came to head back; Diane mapped us back to 81 'kind of'. We turned right and down and around and around we went😕, switch backs and hair pin turns, and on down and around we went😕finally came to the small town of Vesuvius, VA. Bet none of you know where that one is! 😏
We made it back to the Moho, dropped Diane off and I went to Tractor Supply to pick up some DEF. The gauge hasn't worked since the blowout, so I figured best just keep some in the car.
Back to Moho and start packing for our final leg of the journey to Dillsburg. The wind is to still be quite gusty tomorrow, so we are going to try route 340 from here all the way up to route 15.
We saw 2 or 3 small campers, and a lot of beautiful views on the
Blue Ridge Parkway.
Saturday 6 April 2024
Up and on the road by 10:00 for the slooow drive up Route 340. With car already hooked up we were ahead of schedule. It all started out well enough through small towns, lots of traffic lights and then into the countryside. No lights but the road got narrow and windy. With the wind gusts at 20-25😳 mph, we were still happy not to be on I81. Lunch at Walmart somewhere around Front Royal and a fuel stop at Thurmont MD, and we pulled into Dillsburg around 4:00. The drive was probably at least an hour longer but much lower MPH and more relaxing drive.
Parked and organized the Moho. This time for a month, so we put more thought into how we could make the best of available space.
Sunday 7 April 2024
Diane was up, showered and out the door to play bingo with all the Angeli sisters at the Lisburn fire house. I work on fixing/leveling our steps up. It took some time, but they are at least solid. A trip to the storage unit back to the Moho with more supplies. Eventually I was satisfied with them. Change all the water filters, dumped the tanks and hooked up the water softener.
Around 4pm Diane texted she was finished, and we were having dinner with the Shirk's and was to head over with Rudy. Actually, I think Rudy was the important one. Wings from Moe's, a game Mexican train and the night was shot. Packed everything up and back to the Moho. It was 10:30 when we got back, well after dark, just say'n. Bradley can stay out past dark! 😁😁
Four of us girls made it to Bingo and Karen's husband Mike was there.
