A week in Tioga County

Monday 21 October, 2019

Brad got up this morning about 5:00 to go hunting, then about 5 min. later he crawled back into bed.....the fog was to bad.  We got up a little later and had last nights dessert (pumpkin cake) for
I'm not sure if he thinks the fire
is burning, or he just knows we
are getting ready to leave
 and he was pouting.
breakfast.  Then the packing started, him on the outside and me inside.  The last load of laundry was run and about 12:30 we fired up the Moho to bring in the slides and bring the jacks up.  We pulled out about 1:00, Brad heading to Cole's Trucking (our next site) some five miles away and I headed to Mansfield for propane.   I got back about 2:00, Brad hooked up the propane and I organized the inside of the Moho.  About 3:30 Brad headed out to go hunting and about 4:15 Greg showed up with goodies, coleslaw and home made pickles.  After that it was sweep up lady bugs and start this new blog.  The last two days the lady bugs have been terrible.

Tuesday 22 October Sunday 27 October 2019

This week has just flown by.  The weather has been nice for this time of year and the foliage has been nice.  Now there are only a few hillsides left that still have nice color so we took a couple of drives and got a few really nice photos.  I've been hunting most mornings and evenings I didn't
Not brilliant color,
but there is color
have anything close enough to shoot at but it was nice to get back into the mountain.
The big excitement was Wednesday evening when Jen called, just as we were sitting down for ham and green beans to tell us Blue(their dog) was missing.  We put dinner on hold and headed up to see if we could help. Taking the back way up to the camp ground and the place where Blue was last seen, hoping to see or hear him on our way.  Luck was on our side as we passed a parking area there stood Blue. We gather him up and delivered him to the Folk's.  And every one lived happily ever after.

Thursday was dinner at the VFW with Kate and Tony.  They are really excited to get to Florida and check out/decorate their new place.  Friday we went over to help Tony get the tractor ready for winter.  In the evening we both hunted Diane with the bow for deer and I hunted for bear neither of us seen anything to shoot.  Diane saw several deer but nothing close.  Dinner with Kate and Tony then back to the Moho.  Saturday it was to foggy to hunt in the morning(or so I decided) we took care of some chores and I hunted in the evening but didn't see a thing.
Now it is Sunday and raining steadily.  We are cleaning and packing for our move to Walmar Manor in Dillsburg tomorrow.  We have all the hunting stuff spread about the camper, the basement, and the truck.  The trouble is the truck bed is half full of firewood(that I got for a bargain)two weeks ago.  Now we will have to find another place to store the three bins of hunting supplies. Lunch with the Folk's in Wellsboro looks like Pizza Hut since half of the restaurants are closed Sunday. After lunch we packed up the all the hunting stuff and organized the Moho.  Diane went to town to do some laundry while I finished packing.  She make pork and sauerkraut but we weren't all that hungry so we had left-overs for dinner and the pork and kraut will be tomorrows dinner.

Last days at Ives Run! 😞

Baby Bear
Brad forgot to mention the bear we saw Tuesday on our way to Kate and Tony's, a mom and two cubs.  Then as we were going up their drive, we saw a falling star....what a day.

Wednesday 16 October 2019 Happy B-day Shane

I got up and went hunting this morning saw three doe and then a nice buck came walking by but not close enough.  It was very windy and the leaves came down in waves. Sometimes it looked like yellow fog moving in.  I came in about ten, breakfast on the grill and the  rain started just as I carried the food into the house.  What good timing I have. Diane went to the grocery store and I studied insurance paper work we received.  We had baked fish and potatoes for dinner and watched it rain.
Our site at Ives Run!

Thursday 17 October 2019

No hunting this morning very windy with light rain.  We finished going through the mail, mailed some bills etc.  We headed into town for lunch with the Folks.  We were going to meet at the historic Penn Wells hotel but they are not serving lunch.  So off to Timeless Destination, the food was good and we sat and talked for quite a while.  Then a little walk around town, the wind and mist made the walk short.  Back home then over to the VFW for wings.

Friday 18 October 2019

I went hunting it was a nice morning but just squirrels and one doe. As I sat there quit and still I

noticed a jabbing  feeling in my arm pit.  I finally stood up and noticed the squirrels had  chewed the seat back off and the bare metal frame was poking me.  The leaves are probably as nice as they will get this year.  Dull color but still awesome.  Breakfast on the  grill. We were out cleaning up when Jen stopped in with Molly we had a little chat and she was off.  I took Rudy on a long  walk while Diane went to Peg A Mars( produce stand) for cabbage, Jen stopped in again to enjoy our fire and talk.

Saturday 19 October 2019

A hard frost this morning and heavy fog made hunting a little difficult and I didn't see a thing.  We had breakfast and headed into town looking for a hunting stool.  But first was lunch at the coffee shop, Wal-Mart, Tractor Supply, Peebles, and last was Beiters and we found nothing.  Back to the Moho.  Diane then headed into Wellsboro for wine but I think mostly to visit with the girls at the store. I took Rudy for a walk and there it was,... a truck parked at my hunting spot. I hope he is a camper and leaves tomorrow.

Rudy made a new Friend,
They get along very well.

Sunday 20 October 2019

This is our last day at Ives Run and what a nice fall day. We had a morning fire while scrapple and eggs cooked on the grill.  As we were cleaning up Jen and Molly stopped in for a visit.  Then I headed over to walk Normans hill looking for places to hunt rifle.  Boy, that hill gets a little steeper each year, but I made it up and back down. Again the fall foliage is just beautiful now. Meanwhile back at the Moho Diane was busy cleaning and doing laundry before we move tomorrow. By the time I got back at 3:30 she had the placed whipped into shape.  I cleaned up and we headed up to Jen and Greg's for steak dinner and wine by the camp fire. Dinner was great and there was so much we couldn't even eat any desert so we brought back with us.   Thanks for a great evening.

The one group of people
enjoyed carving pumpkins!!

A weekend alone 😊, 😐, 😊

Saturday 12 October 2019

Well here I am all alone.  The first thing we (Rudy and I) did, was ice cream for breakfast. Yum!!  We had bologna and cheese snack bites for lunch.   Then  I headed over to Tony's around 3pm a little visit and then I headed out for the evening hunt.  It was a nice night but no deer to speak of.  I came in and then headed right home with Rudy.  I had left over pot pie for diner and then off to bed. Diane spent the day with Lynne shopping, sipping deluxe coffee and then Your Place Stromboli and wine for the evening.  I'm sure she missed me.

Sunday 13 October 2019

Second day by myself.  Ice cream was all, so I had to have cereal for breakfast.  Salad for lunch, didn't want to eat to much as I'm heading to Jen and Greg's for chicken, filling, mashed potatoes and all the fixings for diner.  The temperatures have been rather cool for this time of year so I made a fire wood run and stopped for a coffee on the way back.  I'm sure we will not run out of fire wood this week.  Back home and off to Jen's and once again diner was great.  And at the same time Diane was stuck at the Apple Festival with Lynne enjoying music, food, craft's and drink for most of the day. Bet she wishes she was here.

Monday 14 October 2019

Last half of a day alone.  All the snacks in the house have been consumed.  I spent the morning making the bed, cleaning the house and getting the place ready for Diane's return.  I picked her up around 2pm and we headed home via the back way checking out the fall foliage.  I started the fire soon after we got home.  Rudy was so happy to see her I thought he was going to pee his pants, but he didn't. He hasn't eaten right since she left.  After he calmed down we sat by the fire enjoyed some wine and did chicken on the grill. Life is good, everyone back home and all are happy.

Tuesday 15 October 2019

Temps in the mid 30's so refreshing.  I headed out to hunt this morning trying to zero in on the buck I've been waiting to see.  But no luck again several doe but nothing even close to being in range.  Back home and we packed up and headed over to Kate and Tony's.  Diane grilled Hog Maw sausages and visited with them while I worked on the tractor.  After lunch I brushed hogged for a few hours then Kate and Diane went to town for supplies.  I worked until 4 and then headed out for the evening hunt.  I actually had a good evening watching 9 deer and 1 coyote.  There was one buck that came out just at dark he was nice but just to dark to wait on him.

Back to Northern PA

Thursday  3 Oct 2019

Up and rolling by 7:30 am traveling all day in a on/off rain, mostly on.  We have the Moho scheduled for annual service and inspection at Eck's in Williamsport.  We stopped unhooked the truck and rolled into the garage about 10:30.  We hit a list of stores while we waited.  It started with Gander Outdoor, then lunch at Springman's Country Store Café, off to Tractor Supply, Best Buy,  Bed Bath and Beyond(going out of business), Ulta, and then back to garage.  The Moho was done about 2:30 inspection went without needing anything and the bill was $415 not all that bad.  I drove to Middlebury Center to our parking spot via Ives Runs to fill up with fresh water.  Diane did some more shopping on her way up but still arrived just shortly after I parked. It was after 5 until we got situated (still raining) so leftovers for diner and we called it a night.

Friday 4 Oct 2019

Kind of a down day.  We sorted the hunting stuff (again) trying to get ready for tomorrow. The plan calls for Diane to make Chili for six for hunting tomorrow.  So I thought I would help out and browned the burger for her and yes I cleaned up the kitchen and everything!  Maybe not the way she would do it.  We took Rudy for a couple of walks around the campground and were ready for happy hour by 5pm

Saturday 5 October 2019

First day of archery.  Diane was up and dropped me off at Tony's about 6:15 to hunt and she went on into Westfield for supplies to make Chili for the Ochenrider hunting group  and us for a late lunch.  I didn't see but three doe and headed in by 10am.  Glenn made biscuits and gravy for breakfast, it was good.  I worked on Tony's tractor then did a little brush hogging.  Diane came over we had chili for lunch about 2:00, then out for the evening hunt.  I saw three doe while hunting Diane saw 17 while she waited for me come out.  Doesn't seem quite fair to me.  Back to the Moho.  Hot dogs and sauerkraut for diner.

Sunday 6 October 2019

I was completely  exhausted from getting up at 4 am yesterday but still woke up at 6am.  I staggered around had several cups of coffee and finally became functional.  I took the meat we had for Jen and Greg over to them at Ives Run and got ten gallon of fresh water for the camper.  Until I returned pumped the water into out tanks I was wore out.  We decided to take a nice drive up over the mountain.  It was after 5pm when we returned so a glass or two of wine and left over chili for diner.

Monday 7 October 2019

Woke up to the sound of rain and today is the day for the big 6 mile drive to Ives Run but first Diane has a dentist appointment. Just hate moving in the rain.  "We" decided I should go along and do laundry (bedding and such), do grocery shopping and go get wine while she was at the dentist.  I must say it was fun.  I pulled in just as she walked out.  Back to the Moho, packed everything up and we were ready by 1pm.  We had a quick lunch, Diane had picked up a sub from Donna's.  I pulled out around two, drove over to Osceola for diesel fuel and propane, and pulled into Ives Run around 3:00pm.  We got to set up once again in the rain.  Not a hard rain but steady all day long.

Tuesday 8 October

At least it was not raining this morning I finished hooking up the water/sewer and cleaning up out side.  We had breakfast on the grill and enjoyed the morning.  I went for a hike to Pine Camp 3 miles round trip and later a hike up over the mountain to scout for deer.  I found several nice rubs and fixed up a spot for the morning hunt.  Diane cleaned up the camper after moving and setting up in the rain it was full of leaves, grass and just plan dirty.  She made bar-b-que with left over burger from the chili.

Wednesday  9 October 2019

Diane once again dropped me off to go hunting but this time it was here in the Park.  She had a hair appointment and needed the truck.  I hunted until 10am but had to hunt/walk my way back to the Moho and on my way I came across some huge rubs.  Just as I was thinking I found a place no one been to this year I came across a set of vehicle tracks.  What a disappointment.   Hunted all morning I saw three doe  The morning fog has been very heavy and persistently lasting until 10am.  I got in just before Diane got home.  She worked on making pot pie for diner with Jen and Greg. They came down around 5pm we ate then sat by the fire until 7:30 or so.

Thursday 10 October 2019

Hunted  in the am cool and foggy but I saw three doe. I came in we had a snack and headed into Wellsboro for money, jean shopping, gas and of course lunch.   We barely had enough time to carry in and put away the stuff we brought before it was time to leave and meet Kate and Tony for wings at the VFW.  We had a good time, met another couple Harold and Phyllis that stay in the Webster campground just a few miles from us in Bushnell.  It was an early night we were home by 7:30 and I was in bed by 9pm.

Friday 11 October 2019

I hunted again in the morning the fog was so heavy the water dripped from the tree leaves.  And I didn't see anything. Cold and half wet I came in around nine 9 am made us breakfast on the grill(scrapple and eggs).  Diane packed up for her trip down to visit Lynn.  We had lunch at Granmma's in Mansfield before she picked up the rental at 1:30. She headed out and I headed home via Weis Markets in Wellsboro. I walked Rudy out to Pine Camp and back before heading up to Jen and Greg's for diner.  We had chili and biscuits and sat by the fire until almost 8:00.

Time to leave Dillsburg

Monday 30 September 2019

Weather has been great these last few days.  We enjoyed breakfast on the grill.  I headed up to the storage unit to swap out some hunting stuff, we have been looking for our spotting scope and still can't find it.  Then the drug store, back to the Moho we went through and resorted the three tubs of hunting stuff, still didn't find the spotting scope but I think we are ready for archery. Diane went to the grocery store in East Berlin to stock up for our trip.  Sausages for diner and then we just relaxed by the campfire.

This campground is a working farm and this is part of the Mini Golf, it fits a farm!!😊

Tuesday 1 October 2019.

I can't believe it is October already.  You couldn't prove it by the weather temp's in the high 80's again here today.  We made but yet another trip to the storage unit dropped off hunting stuff we don't need. We did stop for lunch on the way at the Square Bean in Dillsburg.  Just had a salad but it was great.  We stopped in to see Pat and Norm's remodeled living room, which was very nice!  They actually  refinished the original hard wood floors.  Then off to Rite Aid, Giant, and Warrington Farms we got home I had to reshuffle the freezer  to get all the food put away.  I don't know what I'll do with deer meat if I get one. By the time we settled down it was happy hour.  We talked briefly with the neighbors and I made ribs on the grill and we were done for the night.  Diane did go to the club house to watch NCIS while I did dishes and cleaned up from dinner.

Cleaned up, ready for
the move tomorrow!

Wednesday 2 October 2019

Well here we are, the visit to Dillsburg is almost over.  We had breakfast on the grill once again and the way the weather looks it could be the last for a while.  92 degrees today and only 65 tomorrow.   We have a meeting with accountant today, diner with Lynne and Rick tonight meanwhile Diane's been cleaning and packing up the Moho in between finishing up the laundry and helping me out side.  It's sad saying good-bye, but we will be back soon.
