Last days in Livingston, TX

Thursday 28 march 2019

Today was a stay at home day.  We did some laundry in the morning, vacuum packed the meat we bought yesterday and took Rudy on an hour long walk around the park.  We had lunch in then decided to wash the truck.  Now keep in mind, today is the coolest day since we have been here, but we washed the truck anyway.  Another hour walk for Rudy and back home for chicken on the grill.  Some days we just don't do much.

Friday 29 March 2019

We were up and moving and the Moho was running by 8:15.  I don't know why but Brad scheduled our Moho to get weighed at 8:30 AM and yes we all have to be in it, in our normal places, ugh.  Well
Shiner Bock at the
Blue Duck
we survived that, back to our site, parked, leveled, Diane ran the sweeper before she put everything back, a little something to eat, an hour walk for Rudy, showers and once again we are off.  First stop was the Blue Duck Bar and Grill where Brad had the Blackened Shrimp over cheesy grits and I had a cup of cheesy potato soup and 1/2 of blackened chicken salad sandwich, both were delicious.  After that we walked around the 'Good Golly Miss Molly's' antique/gift store, then we headed out to find Thomas' Mercantile, but it was closed.  We head back into town and stopped at the HEB grocery store, not a bad place and Frontera wine was only $6.50 a bottle, what a find.  Back home, groceries away and another hour walk for Rudy.  We grilled a steak and had that over a salad for dinner, just needed something little after the big lunch.....still no TV.

This is Good Golly Miss Molly.  A cute little shop

Saturday 30 March 2019

Brad made sausage patties and pancakes for breakfast, yum.  I'm on my second load of laundry when he decides he's going to put air in the tires (we were told yesterday they were under inflated 15 -20 pounds for our load), and that took him over an hour, oh my, but it's done.  Showers for both of us, then we headed out for lunch about 12:30.  We were going to the Florida's Kitchen for lunch, but the place was packed and 3 cars were in the parking lot trying to find a place to park, so we headed else where.  We settled on 'David Beard's Catfish King'.  It is a chain restaurant out here, but the food was good and there was plenty of it.  We brought home 2 pieces of catfish and a baked potato.  We try going back to the Mercantile again
Thomas mercantile
Still not open!!
today, but they are closed, even though the hours posted are 'open Thursday-Saturday 10:00-5:00'.   We headed back towards town and stopped at Joe Pedigo Park, with a nice pond to walk around, but just as we parked it started to rain, no stroll for us. Since the rain has settled in and the temp has dropped to 59 degrees, we head back home to settle in for the night.  Brad first talked to Shari for awhile, then off for a walk when Jen calls, back to the Moho and an hour talk for Brad, while Diane gets our the Nintendo game, hooks it up and plays while he talked.  After that a quick walk for Rudy, snacks for dinner since lunch wasn't until 2:00.  Here it is, Saturday night at 7:30 and yes I am really missing my TV, I did forget to mention that the radio around here is also not the best.😧

The Excapee's Park Livingston

Monday 25 March 2019

Well this should be and interesting week.  After a nice evening last night we headed off to bed to listen to truck traffic all night long.  The road is just a two lane country road but the speed limit is
Our Campsite
70!  I hope we get use to it as the week moves along. We had breakfast on the grill and then headed into the town of Livingston to check it out and of course we arrived at lunch time.  We stopped at Manny's Shrimp Boat restaurant, it was all right I had Cajun broiled shrimp and Diane had the shrimp basket. Followed lunch with a ride around Livingston Lake which is the largest lake in Texas.  Back home several walks around the park, this place is rather large. This is the Escapees Headquarters and Care Facility and there are over 175 deeded sites (have a RV garage and/or house) 50 permanent sites for campers in the care unit.  Just walking around  you get a good feel for the campers here recuperating in the care unit hoping to return to life on the road.  Burgers on the grill.

Tuesday 26 March 2019

We slept a little better last night left the a/c on all night and that worked until the temperature dropped to 50 degrees.  A nice sunny morning, breakfast on the grill.  We started working on plans to make our way toward Shari's  in Golden.  First we decided to leave here early and got to Waco. No refunds from here so we are going to stay.  An air show in Waco so very few sites available. Diane called at least four places some twice but no can do.  She finally sweet talked a guy into a site for a week we just have to dry camp the first night.  We headed into the grocery store about three returned and had chicken on the grill for dinner.  Day number three without any TV.

Wednesday 27 March 2019

Up at the break of day that is around 7:30 here in Texas.  After a quick breakfast we headed to Tractor Supply for propane and darn it was lunch time by the time we left TSC.  Diane found this little place just down the road called The Hitching Post when we pulled in we noticed a camera crew eating lunch.  Found out it was American Idol crew shooting a background story for Laci Kaye Booth(from Livingston Texas) on this years show.  And besides that it was a really cool place.  I had pork rib sandwich and Diane had a brisket sandwich both were just wonderful.  Then over to check out Lake Livingston State Park.  On the way back we found a neighborhood butcher shop and stocked up on some freezer food.  Regular boudin sausage for dinner.  Still no TV Diane is starting to twitch around 8pm hope she makes it.

These top two are pics of  'The Hitchin-Post'.  Interesting place, great food.

The bottom pic is from Lake Livingston State Park. Beautiful place.

Fun time in Sulphur Louisiana

Thursday 21 March 2019

Feeling better this morning as we head off to Sulphur Louisiana, just west of Lake Charles.  It was a beautiful day and we were packed and on the road by 10:00.  It took us 4 hours to go 160 miles but in our defense we took an hour lunch break at the Atchafalaya rest area, just at the end of an eighteen mile bridge over rivers, bays and swamps.  It was probably one of the best, if not the nicest rest area we ever been in. They had a wonderful display of wildlife, plants and insects that live in the wetlands and a 5 minute movie about the early settlers in the area.  Back on the road we arrived at the A+  Motel and campground about 2:00 pm.   A really nice park with roomy sites, large concrete pads, pools (one was adults only) and fishing pond.  In this area of Louisiana there is a heavy presence of oil/gas production and related industries. We can see a huge flame burning off methane (I think) from the back of the campground.  Burgers and fixing for dinner as we enjoyed the warm sunshine.

The Minerva Ship on the Mississippi, just had to have a picture. 💔

The one on the right is the Visitors Center at the Atchafalaya River Basin.  The place was beautiful and the crossing the bridge was an enjoyable ride.

Friday 22 March 2019

Another wonderful weather day 80 degrees and sun shine all day long.  Breakfast French toast and bacon on the grill.  Cleaned up and packed up for a ride down highway 27(the creole trail) to the gulf coast via some wild life refuges counting on a nice seafood restaurant .  Well, no one warned us how desolate this ride would be.   We drove some 40 plus miles(it took 1 1/2hrs) to Cameron Louisiana, stopping at Holly Beach to walk out to the Gulf and did not pass a gas station or restaurant.  We noticed a lot of damaged homes and businesses as we drove and after taking a ferry boat to cross the river we finally found a place to eat called the Anchors Up Grill. I had the Kick'n shrimp Po-Boy and Diane had shrimp basket.  They were good and as it turns out that was the only restaurant we passed.  Turns out Hurricane Harvey made land fall here in Oct 2017.  We seem to be on the hurricane trail this year. Again the vast devastation is almost incomprehensible.   We headed home stopping a wild life refuge and walked a mile long boardwalk and a 3 mile drive through a huge wetland area.  Many different birds winter here just hundreds and hundreds of birds and of course alligators and new to us Nutria (swamp rats), they reminded us of groundhogs.  We stopped at the first gas station we saw to use the bathroom.  Even the restaurant didn't have restrooms.

At the Anchors Up grill
we found this little guy going for a ride.

The guy on the right wasn't happy getting his picture taken and the picture below is the Nutria (swamp rat)

Saturday 23 March 2019

Off to down town Lake Charles to tour the Historic District and go have lunch at a good seafood place, but we were a bit disappointed.  All the restaurants were Mexican, so Brad had a Shrimp Po-Boy that was ok and I had the triple taco, 1 shrimp, 1 fish and 1 beef, I enjoyed them, but it really wasn't what we were looking for.  Oh well, a stroll through town, most of which was closed (on a
Mural on the outside of
the Art Shop
Saturday).  We did find a art place that was open and actually pretty interesting work then off to find a coffee shop.  We then took our coffee down to the lake side to enjoy and that was nice, lots of people to watch and the lake was beautiful.  We finally headed home about 4:00, stopping at a Market Basket to get some Boudin (southern sausage) and wine, then off to home to save Rudy.  We did a nice long walk around the park and then another long walk, then we headed inside for some Nachos for dinner.  We are heading out tomorrow, off on another adventure.

Sunday 24 March 2019

We are up and on the road at 10:00 heading out for our long 130 mile drive.  First stop about 20 mile down the road at the Texas Welcome center, then another 10 miles to the Flying J for fuel.  After that it was a straight shot to Livingston TX to the Escapees Rainbow Park.  Just our luck, parked us beside the highway, hopefully it quiets down after dark.  We were both a little disillusioned, as the place seems pretty old and run down, we just thought it would be a nicer place.  But what the heck, we're only here a week.  We did a quick walk around the park and that took an hour, and no we didn't cover the whole thing, it is rather large.  Back to the Moho a glass of wine, some outside time chatting then Boudin and upside down pickles for dinner.  Doesn't get much nicer than that.  We are now inside, no TV, nothing over the air and the satellite dish quit working.....oh well, we will survive.

The flu bug bites

Sunday March 17, 2019

Sunday was an us day.  We had some shopping to do so off to Target and the rest of the time we just hung out here at the camper.  Cleaning laundry and lots of walks.

Monday March 18, 2019
Diane got up not feeling well...by 11:00 she was just hanging out on the sofa resting after a good nights sleep.

Tuesday March 29, 2019
Diane is sick but did manage to get her hair done, and now Brad isn't feeling well.

Wednesday March 20,2019
Diane is feeling a little better.  Brad is sick and we are going through two boxes of tissues a day.  We did have dinner with Buddy and Teresa and said our goodbyes. We are leaving tomorrow heading to Lake Charles, La.  Hope we feel a little better.

Tuesday, March 19, 2019

Off to Louisianna and a visit with the Burkettes'

Tuesday 12 March 2019

We got up and were in no hurry to leave since we were only traveling 130 miles.  We were hooked up and on the road about 10:30, headed to the interstate for fuel then back to route 90 for a leisurely drive to Livingston, LA.   We hit some rough roads but passed though some really nice areas and again some not so nice areas, but we enjoyed it better than the express way.  We got to the CG about 2:30, checked in, got propane and were parked and situated by 3:00.  Not to bad.  We chit chatted with Teresa and decided just to spend the evening here at the campground and hook up with them on Thursday, so we had the BBQ left overs and stayed in for the night.  A nice CG with a beautiful  small lake in the middle, so a couple of walks around that and we were all ready for bed by 10:30.

Wednesday 13 March 2019

Brad got up and had his cup of coffee, but when he went to make me a cup.....no can do, the coffee pot stopped working.  So he left with Rudy for a walk while I struggled to wake up trying to be a
Visiting Buddy and
Teresa
pleasant person.  He got back about 40 min. later, I was dressed so off we go for breakfast and some much needed coffee.  Now me not having coffee for 90 min after I get up could have been ugly, but we actually did ok.  We found a little dinner up the road and nice breakfast and some good coffee and all is great again.  Back home a shower for me and then off to see Buddy and Teresa.  We chatted for a short time, or so we thought, and the next we look it's 2:00 and we head off for a late lunch.  Now Brad's and my goal is a coffee pot, but them, not so much.  We stopped at the 'Walk On' restaurant and had a nice lunch that lasted until about 3:30 then they finally head over to Bed, Bath and Beyond so we could get a new coffee pot.  A stroll through the store and we both made some purchases then back to their house, another hour of chatting then we finally head home to rescue Rudy.  It was almost 6:00 until we got home, a walk for us all and then Rudy was ready to eat.

Thursday 14 March 2019

We got up and I managed to get 2 loads of laundry done, in between showers.  About 11:30 we headed over to Buddy and Teresa's to see what they had going on.  Brad and Rudy stayed at the house, helping Buddy tear up a wooden deck they had in the middle of the yard, while Teresa and I headed out.  First stop was Bed, Bath and Beyond, I took my receipt and coupon that I forgot yesterday and got my $30.00 (20%) back and Teresa got her $10.00 back for her purchase the day before as well.  A stop at the grocery store for some wine and pretzels then back to the Burkette’s just in time to catch the guys taking a break.  They both had a beer, and then got back to work on the next section of the deck.  They worked ‘til about 4:00 then called it a day.  We sat around chatting until Teresa started dinner for us.  She made us Crawfish Etoufee over rice, it was delicious.  We hung out until about 8:30 then headed home and off to bed.

Friday 15 March 2019

We got up another load of laundry, a bike ride for Brad, 2 showers and we finally got out the door about 11:00.  We packed up Rudy's kennel to take to Buddy and Teresa's so we didn't need to be back to their house quite as early.  A stop at Wal-greens to pick up my medicines and check on Brad's, no luck then off to the Burkette we head.  We hung out there for about an hour then put the dogs in their appropriate places and off we go.  We headed to a place called Denham Springs with 2 blocks of Antique stores.  We managed to hit them all and only had one small purchase, pretty good for Brad and I.  About 3:30/4:00 we headed off to dinner, to a place call Don's Steak and Seafood.  We all had some sort of seafood and it was all delicious.  Back to the Burkettes to rescue the dogs and hang out for about an hour so Rudy could get some free range run time in then Brad and I headed home.  We got home about 7:00 to find the CG absolutely full, so we headed inside, watched some TV, then Brad headed to bed about 9:00 and I lasted until 10:00.

Saturday 16 March 2019

Up and moving early this morning.  We were out the door by 9:30 and headed over to Buddy and Teresa's house. We let Rudy run for a little then he went in his house and we headed off to Baton Rouge. We started with the Old State Capital tour that is now a museum. It was very interesting with civil war history and occupation by Union troops.  A whole wing displaying facts and history about Huey Long and his assassination.  Next we walked across the street and toured the USS Kidd a WWII destroyer (that was actually disappointing).  We stopped at PaPi's Mexican restaurant on the way home and it was very good.  Picked up Rudy and headed back home.

Pictures of the Old Capital building and the Mississippi River.  Wonderful day!!

Off to Gulfport Mississippi

You feel awful tall
going thru a tunnel
in an RV!
Saturday March 9, 2019

I don't know how we did it but we were all packed, vehicle hooked up and on the road by 9:15....for us that's pretty darn good.  It was an uneventful ride, with our first stop being about 11:00, but it was too early for lunch so back on the road.  We stopped at the next rest area, parked facing the woods and had a nice long lunch break.  Back on the road and we both noticed that the wind was picking up.  We drove until we hit Mississippi then stopped at the Visitors center.  We took a nice break, then back on the road for the last hours drive.  We found Shields Navy base with no problems, pulled in and were parked just after 3:00.  We hopped in the car and did a quick tour of the rest of the base and their 2nd CG then home for a glass of wine.  About 5:30 Brad started the grill and we had chicken and grilled asparagus for dinner.  We watched a little TV then off to bed.

Sunday March 10, 2019

We got up to a foggy morning so Brad decided to make French Toast and Sausage on the Grill.  After that we got cleaned up and headed out about noon.  First we checked out the exchange here on base, then a ride into Gulfport Beach and up route 90 to see how Biloxi has changed.  There are still
The fog in Gulfport
at 1:15 PM
a lot of vacant lots for sale, but it has really built back up since we were here in 2011.  After that we headed up to 'The Shed' for a late lunch, it's a BBQ pig feast restaurant that Shane took us to when we were here before.  It burnt down in 2012 so it looks a lot different but the food was a good as we remembered.  We had the 7 meat sampler and ended up bringing 2 containers of left overs home.  We stopped at the 'Gulf Island National Seashore' on our way back just to check it out.  There were a lot of walking/biking trails with lots of people there, but when we got to the visitors center, it was already closed (we forgot to change the clock in the truck, ugh).  Maybe we'll head back there tomorrow to check it out again.  Back home to rescue Rudy and long walk for all three of us, back home for a glass of wine, then another walk for the three of us.  We headed in about 7:00, fed Rudy and a very small dinner snack of pretzels and cheese, we were both still a bit full from lunch.

 The Shed BBQ joint

and the food we got to split.  It was delicious!!

Two containers of leftovers brought home

Monday 11 March 2019

We got up to a very foggy and heavy dew morning, they are calling for rain so we decided to make a few calls that needed made.  About noon we noticed no rain so we headed out to the  'Gulf Island National Seashore', but the fog was thick there was really no reason to walk along the
shore line.  In town the fog wasn't as bad so we decided to stop at a little town called Ocean Springs and decided to walk around there.  Surprisingly we spent about spent about 3 hours just walking through the shops and checking things out.   I was looking for a clock for the Moho, but didn't find one that I liked.  After that we headed down to the beach area to check that out and checked out the boat at the docks, by then it was time to head back to Rudy. We got home, a call from Mel and a nice walk through the CG for Rudy then back home to do some mapping for tomorrow.  I got a call from Lynne, we talked for a while then it was back inside for dinner.   Tomorrow is another move.

Time in Panama City

Tuesday March 5 2019

Cold and windy.  It was 41 and windy this morning.  Breakfast in then out for lunch at Randy's Flour Power Café, Cuban's and a spinach/walnut salad, both were good.  We headed back to the Panama Beach Conservation Park for a bike ride that took about two hours.  It was a little longer than we thought as we rode with the wind going out and then into the wind the whole way back, Yuk.   Back home via a drive around the base to the post office.  There were a lot of roofs tarped on base buildings and a lot of tree debris.  After that it was home to Rudy, dinner, showers and off to bed.

Wednesday March 6 2019

I headed up to the store for Turnips, carrots and wine, while Brad waited for the Safe-lite guy to call.  As we were waiting on Safe-lite the Blue Angels were flying over head.  At one point we look up to see the jet going straight up...pretty cool.  We waited most of the afternoon until Brad decided to call them. Seems that their records showed that the windshield was replaced yesterday....not.  So it got reschedule for Thursday morning, here's hoping that goes a little better.  I cleaned while we waited, then we showered and went for a 2 mile up to the Publix  and back, all for a loaf of Bread.  It was a much needed break after sitting around all day not doing much of anything.  We had a pot roast with turnips and carrots for dinner, then just sat on the patio until it got to cool, then we headed in for the evening.

Thursday March 7 2019

About 9:30 Brad commented that we hadn't heard for Mr. Safe-lite, and about 5 min later the phone
I did find a
lime green gecko.
rang, he was outside the gate.  He came in and had the windshield replaced within an hour, but we had to wait about 30 min. before we can drive the truck.  We decided to have left overs for lunch then changed clothes and headed back to Conservation Park for another bike ride.  This time we road a 6.5 mile trail in the park, which I really enjoyed.  We got back to the truck and Brad decided he wanted to ride some more so he headed out while I headed over to walk on the board walk and check for alligators, but I didn't see any.  Back to the truck to head home and rescue Rudy.  We sat outside until dark, then Brad made burgers and faded fast after that.  He was in bed by 8:30 and I didn't head in until about 10:30.

Friday March 8 2019

We worked on packing up and cleaning up for the trip tomorrow.  We headed to the grocery store around 11:00 but decided we shouldn't shop hungry so we stopped for lunch at  Fatty Patty's. It was good so off to the grocery store and back home.  More packing, washed front of the Moho, disconnected propane and generally packed and organized.  We need a good start tomorrow as we are traveling over 250 miles.  Grilled chicken wraps for dinner.

The neighbors truck
We thought it was cute!

Panama City Beach

Saturday March 2 2019

Woke up to the pitter patter of rain pounding on the roof and we are packing to go to Panama City.  I took Rudy out as soon as it let up a little.  It continued to rain on and off  most of the morning.
Our Site at Southside
When I went out it rained and when I came in it quit.  There wasn't a lot to do the only thing hooked up was electric.  Diane packed up inside, we scoped out our escape through Home Depot parking lot and were on the road by 9:30 for a journey of 110 miles.  We stopped for fuel and were not on the road for 30 miles when we started to see hurricane damage.  For the entire rest of the trip the damage just got worse.  Quite the humbling experience to see just how bad the damage was.  And as you may expect high end homes, golf course developments and hotels are fixed or being worked on. But in the country north of here all you see is blue tarps and damaged homes with very few crews working. We both agreed we never need to see this again.

Anyway, we arrived at the Southside RV park, at the Naval Station Panama City around 12:15 just a little under 3 hours to go 110 miles.   Sites are nice and well maintained.  We walked around then Diane went to grocery store and I hooked up propane as temps are to drop into the 40's this week.  Steaks on the grill and a nice evening on the patio.

Sunday March 3 2019

Weather men were calling for all day thunderstorms so we planed our day accordingly laundry, bill
Debris Truck one of many!!
paying and everyone's favorite taxes.  As you can guess it never did rain but we did get a lot of unpleasant work done. The storm damage is not as bad here as it is to the east and north of us, but this is bad enough.  Every day about 7:30 they bring in trucks that have loaders attached to pick up the tree/brush debris laying aside the road, yes 7 days a week and it has been about 5 months since the hurricane.   We made breakfast on the grill and Diane made cabbage rolls in the crook pot so not all was lost. We did get a tornado warning early evening but nothing happened just a severe thunderstorm.

Monday March 4 2019

Cold this morning!  Temps were down in the 40's when I got.  It did manage to reach 60 this afternoon.  We headed out to check the place out drove along the waterfront but just to cold and windy to get out so we went for lunch.  We stopped at 'The Craft Bar' where they had 33 micro brews
Using the boardwalk
to go over the swamp!!
on tap. I had number 11 can't remember the name but it was good.  Diane had blackened chicken with roasted brussel sprouts and I had a spicy grouper sandwich both were excellent.  We found a city park/preserve, a really large place about 2000 acres.  We picked up a map and headed down a trail.  Made a wrong turn and ended up at a dead end,  checked the map turned around and went the other wrong way,  checked the map and picked the only remaining path.  It came out at the parking lot. by now it is 3:30 and we headed back to Rudy.  Left over and snacks for dinner and yes the wind is still howling, hoping for better weather tomorrow.

Last days at Paradise Oaks

Saturday February 23 2019

First of all we have been having a terrible time with the blog.  We have lost entire days when we save the data and then I look at Diane and say fix please!  Anyway,  nothing much today. We went to Len's picked up our mail and packages.  We got a new rug for under the awning put that out and it looks nice.  We went through the mail and when you only get it twice a month it takes awhile. I took my usual bike ride.  We all took a walk around the trail in the campground probably almost a mile.  Left over shrimp for dinner(don't you just hate left overs..not)

Sunday February 24 2019

Another hot day. It was 71 degrees when I got up this morning. I had to drag Rudy out for his walk.  Breakfast on the grill, the showers and we are just counting down the days until water heater is replaced.  Diane gave me a haircut and I must say it looks good but she still didn't get a tip.  The wind died down enough for me to do my bike ride while Diane had the pleasure of cleaning the inside of the Moho.

Monday February 25 2019

Up early and at 9 AM we were off to the Webster flea market, not bad for us.  First time this year and we were both eager to root through old junk looking for that special item we can't live without.  By the time we left the market the cart was full.  Diane found Pfaltzgraff dishes, 10 or 12 of them and Diane was interested in just one item, until we left I had talked her down in price and we took the whole lot of them.  I found two silver dollars to add to my collection and a much needed inside out umbrella and we decided to call it quits.  We headed home, unloaded the stuff and stayed in the rest of the day.

Tuesday February 26 2019

We had planned on visiting with Ashley, but instead we took a nice leisurely drive to Brooksville.  We stopped at BB & B for coffee and did a little more shopping, hitting Bealls and one or two other stores before heading home.

Wednesday February 27, 2019

A quick trip to visit Ashley then we headed up to O'shucks for lunch.

OK  I am trying to remember these last few days, since the computer crashed and lost everything we had typed in the blog.....so for that reason, not much listed and you only get the hi-lights.

Thursday February 28, 2019

We got up with great anticipation of getting our new water heater put in.  While Dave, the installer
Water heater is in!!
was there, Diane headed to the grocery store to get supplies for our up coming trip.  She gets back home, we unload and put the stuff away, and Dave is still here.  He finally finished up and we head out.  First stop for money, then off for lunch then over to the cemetery for one last visit with Shawna before we head out.  We didn't stop for a usual beer, instead we headed home for a trip around the park to visit friends, but they were all out and about, so back to the Moho to start cleaning up for our trip on Friday.  It took both Diane and I all evening picking and cleaning, folding rugs, chairs, etc to get things cleaned up....and that was just the out side.  We just had sausages for dinner and then headed inside.

New door doesn't look
to bad.

Friday March 1, 2019

Were got up and Diane started packing and cleaning before she even had breakfast.  Now I only had a few things to do to the outside, so I was ready long before her (tee hee).  She finally got the inside packed up and we were on the road about 10:00.  It was a pretty uneventful ride, with a stop about 12:00 for lunch in the Moho.  It was a nice break for all.  After that we get on Interstate 10 and about 30 min. later we are in a torrential down pour.  It was scary for the both of us a the wind was blowing so hard you couldn't see the road as the sheets of rain came down and then the windshield started to steam up as the temp dropped 20 degrees.  It was quite the site as Diane is hang over the dash with a rag trying to keep the windshield cleared, and shortly after that we found a rest stop and pulled in.  Diane then found the defrost fan button and the rest of the ride was good.   We get off 10 and head to the Moose we were staying at, pulled in and I parked while Diane went to check us in.  About 5 min. later another Moho pulled in for the single campsite that remained.  Well as it turned out there were 2 sites so we both parked and talked quite a while.  About 5:00 Diane and I headed into the moose for a beer and dinner of Fried Chicken and scalloped potatoes, there is no fee to stay so we usually eat at the Moose of we stay there.  We headed back to the Moho about 7:30 watched so TV and were both in bed by 10:00
