The weather we paid for!!

16 - 24    February   Not a lot news worthy over the past week or so.  The weather has been really nice shorts and flip flops have been the uniform of the day.

We took the truck back in for one more attempt for them to fix the passenger door.  They gave us a loner car, a little tiny thing I could barely get in and out of it, but it worked.   We were grill
This just made us laugh
when we walked past a
New Moho!!

shopping when they called to say it was done, we arrived just before closing looked at the truck , not fixed,  not even close.  The supervisor came over and he said it looked like 'crap'.  They kept it another day and finally had everything looking good.  So we have had the truck 4 weeks and have made 5 trips for maintenance.  I hope we are done with them.

Sunday we took the Moho up to Alliance Coach for some work on the bedroom slide out, check the entrance door and fix a cupboard door.  They could not find anything wrong with the entrance door, recommended replacing the topper on the slide out and fixed the cupboard door so 400 dollars and two days later we were back at our site in Bushnell.

Wednesday I received an email from Winnebago that they had
Waiting to go into repair
for our new slide topper!!
shipped our $230 storage bin (Yea).  the second paragraph explained they added $195 to our credit card for shipping(Ouch).  We were thinking maybe $50.

So it has been an expensive couple days, new grill, order new flag and flag light, new jeans for me, and yesterday Diane's strap tore on her pocket book, she still needs to shop for another.

We are making our final plans to leave here and head to Perry Ga.  Now our friends we were meeting there won't make since Buddy feel from a 15 foot ladder while running a chain saw.  Good news is he will recover, bad new he has fractured bone, and severely injured hand and will not make it to the rally.  So we will be on our own.  We should be leaving here March 15th and then leaving Perry for the coast around the 22nd.  Not sure where we will go yet but we are thinking Charleston, SC.
Back at Bushnell, now to get
re-organized!!

Today the 24th we are having some very strong storms with a few tornado watches popping up on the news.  So far we have only had a few shower and wind.

Another week at Paradise (Oaks that is)!!

Thursday  11  February    Made a bunch of phone calls, worked on taxes, bills the normal depressing stuff.  We went to Alliance coach for parts and to schedule a repair visit.  Finally the grocery store and by the time we returned happy hour was in full swing without us, we were there at 5, only an hour late for happy hour

Friday 12  February    After the normal morning of stuff, Diane played pokeno and took Annette and Marlene along for their first experience. I headed over to the Lucero house to work on sanding and painting parts of the storage bin.  Back home cleaned up,  happy hour next door and then chicken on the grill for dinner.

Saturday 13   February What a nice day sunny with high around 70 degrees.  We had yogurt for breakfast,  cleaned up the place and headed to Floral City for a bike ride.  Of course it was lunch time
Cool but a sunny day!!
No I didn't say Cold!!!!
by time we arrived so first was lunch at Robin's.  A little dinner probably seats 25 people but the food was good and we were happy.  Next a bike ride about 8 miles or so the first ride after getting Diane's bike out of the shop.  By the time we returned home walked Rudy and talked with neighbors it was time for our Valentine's dinner (Steak and asparagus).

Sunday 14 February    Happy Valentine's Day to all.  Another Florida, sunny high 72 with a light breeze.  Not much going on today Diane played bingo (no wins) and I finished painting(primer) the storage panel.   Happy hour with the gang and burgers for dinner.

Monday 15 February  Cloudy today with a steady breeze but warm.  We headed off to the Webster Flea Market for the first time this season.  Well, we forgot today was a holiday and the place was just packed.  And of course the first order of business after arriving was to eat....breakfast,   yes we finally got to destination for breakfast.  We spent nearly 4 hour there walking around made a few purchases and were exhausted by the time we got home.  After a little rest I had to take the truck back to the dealer again 2 hours round trip.  Happy hour was just four of us, sausages for dinner and that was it for today.

Cool and windy

I hate to complain, but it has been cool (low 50's) and windy and it looks like there is no end in the near future.  So today was a load of laundry then a drive around to the other CG's to drop off fliers for the dog stroller.  It was a tough day, there was a guy that collapsed on the shuffle board court and until we had to pass him again they were performing CPR and the ambulance was on it's way in....shook us up a little.  Then off to the gas station where we watched a guy hit a barrier, then back up and drive off, broken lights and all....he never stopped.  We had a big lunch at the Odd Cup'les CafĂ©, late, so dinner was just snacking.

Saturday we were so tired of sitting around the CG we headed up to Ocala to a small RV show and strolled around that until the rain chased us out. We did find a RV we really liked, it was a Holiday Rambler Navigator XE 35B.  It is a new floor plan and the dealer didn't even have a brochure but we were wet so we left.  We decided to take the back roads home and ended up finding a Winery.....made plans to stop back and check it out another time, we had just got coffee and were cold and wet, so home we headed.  Brad managed to cook a couple of boneless chicken thighs on the grill and we just had that over a salad for dinner.

Sunday was another load of laundry (yes, a small washer so I do a load a day and hang it out).  We had a quick breakfast then I put Chili in the crock pot.  I headed up to play Bingo while Brad headed over to Len's to work on the Moho compartment he tore apart.  He got home in time for happy hour, then it was just Chili for dinner while we watch the Super Bowl.  I think we lasted until half time, but then ended up turning something else on the TV.  We did check back from time to time and were glad Denver won.

Monday was phone call day, Ford to get some work done on the truck, Marathon to cancel our Keys camp site, the Post Office to have them send us our mail, a call from Jen a call to Shari and a text from the bike shop.  Brad did manage to make breakfast on the grill  in between the calls, then we headed to Wildwood to get my bike and a hair cut for Brad (I think I'll go back for a Mani-Pedi).  After that a very late luck at the Oak Wood Express (like 3:00) so dinner was just some cheese and crackers...and a call from Mel to end the evening.  I did back 2 batches of brownies to take to the Ladies Tea on Tuesday.

Tuesday a call from Marathon, cancelation processed yea.  I went to the Ladies Tea and Fashion Show, not to bad.  I got back, no sign of Brad, so I called on his phone and it rang in the camper.....not too bad, but after 2 hours, I was just a little irritated.  He finally came home, I fussed a little then on we went.  We both fussed about the wind and cool weather and hid-out inside, except for taking Rudy for his walks.  We had left over Chili for dinner then up to play Bingo with Marlene and Annette....none of us won, but we did entertain  ourselves for the evening.  Back home, a little TV and then off to bed.

Wednesday the CG had a breakfast and then a talk/discussion with the new owners about all the changes they are planning  to make.....to make a long story short, just like everybody else, they want long term campers (6 months or longer) and not too worried about us 3 month people.  We are still welcome, but that might be coming to an end....oh well, on to a new destination.  After breakfast I headed up to the Stover's Candy store with Jim and Annette, while Brad headed up to the car dealer to get some work done on the truck.  Needless to say, I was home way before him, hung out laundry, did some chores around the camper, walked Rudy and fielded a bunch of call from Brad.  After his wait, he had new wipers and another appointment to get some of the other things fixed...what a long day.  Our high today was only in the low 50's with about 25 mph winds, so once again it is a no happy hour night and hide inside kind of day......I'm tired of these.

Visiting in Sumterville

Fri January 29    Busy day for us both.  Diane helped decorate the social halls for Valentine's day, had pizza with the girls, and after a short break stayed and played pokeno.   This week she donated her money back to the other players.  I took the truck back to the dealer to get the bug deflector replaced and then stopped at fresh market for pretzels and licorice and came home with a bag of groceries including crab cakes.  We had the crab cakes for diner and we were not disappointed.  It was a long day but the weather was great, a good day to do anything.

Saturday  January 30   Another really nice day weather wise.  After breakfast Diane did some laundry while I walked Rudy and cleaned up.  Then we headed into the chili cook off festival to try
Jeep Parking Only!!
some local fare.  We arrived at 12:30 and were surprised to park right beside the activities .......that's because it ended at 1:00.  Well we bought tickets and hurried through the stands tasting and reviewing each one as we went.  Just as we picked the ones we liked and voted it was over.  But they had a band and few other activities we walked around for a hour or so and headed home.  After that we drove around Lake Pan to see if anything had changed, but it hadn't, then we finally got together with the Lucero's for dinner at Beef O'Brady's.  If was a nice evening with Len, Shawna and Gabe.  It was great to see them all.

I got within about 8 feet of him,
he was big when he flew away!

Sunday January 31   Not much happening today.  Diane cleaned the place up a little, went and played bingo after lunch.  I wasn't feeling to good this morning so I pretty much just laid around the house all day.  We had set steaks out to thaw a couple of days ago and we needed to use them.  As the day wore on I felt a little better and I did manage to get the grill started and cook diner and Diane decided she will keep me anyway.

Monday  February 1    We have been having some great weather sunny with temp's in the 80's.  Today we took the truck back to the accessory's guy to have the rain guards put on, had lunch at this really unique place by Lake Harris.   We think more people boated in for lunch than drove.   The food was good, the atmosphere was great, the service was very slow.  The place was packed with the nice weather and only one waitress.  By the time we left we had
Outdoor bar at the restaurant
on the River...interesting place.
to come straight home to rescue Rudy.  Happy hour with the neighbors left overs for diner and off to bed.

Tuesday February 2    Started a new project this morning.  I don't know what got me on the trail,  but today I decided to start working on the leaky storage bin outside under the driver's seat.  Y'all know how this story goes.  First I was just looking at it,  then I removed the light and wiring to gain better access, then the carpet liner to find the leak, then the door, the panel beside it and so the story goes.  By lunch I had half of the front drivers side removed.  With everything removed and sitting on the ground I wanted to make sure we can get a new one.   Diane started looking and calling only to find out there is a blizzard in Iowa and Winnebago is closed until Thursday.  I cleaned up and we both went to play bingo.  We had a good time but
Nothing left of the bin,
let's hope we can get a new one.
didn't win, we did come close so many times.  Happy hour with the neighbors before bingo and left overs for diner.

Wednesday February 3    After breakfast on the grill and cleaning up a little we took Dianes bicycle to the shop to get fixed.  The brakes are rusted I guess it needs new cables.  I was thinking we would trash it and get a cheap one but the bike shop guy says he could fix it about 50 bucks or so.  We'll see how the 'or so goes', higher, lower or breaks even!!  Then off to Camping World (you always need something) walked around, checked out the RV selection but left with only a set of string lights.  Over to the neighbors for happy hour and then just sausages on the grill for diner.

Thursday February 4    Cloudy and a little breeze this morning still warm(70) but storms are headed our way.  We left about 10:00 to meet Morgan at UF in Gainesville 75 miles north of here.  The temperature hit 78 degrees as we drove past Ocala and I turned on the AC.  We drove into the storm as we approached Gainesville the rain hit with a vengeance and the temp dropped from 75 to 63 in an instant.  We met Morgan, went to a nice dinner(the Metro Dinner) had a good time visiting with her.  The rain was relentless all day,  not just rain but wind driven, can barely see to drive type rain.  Anyway, we dropped Morgan off back at school and headed home.  The rain quit 5 mile before we pulled in and people in shorts and t-shirts are looking at us funny as we get out with sweat shirts and carrying wet umbrellas.   But within a hour the storm reached the camp ground and everyone was scurrying for cover.   Good thing is Diane had diner in the crock pot and we were in for the night.
