Ok, here it is Saturday and it's time to leave. Heading back to the Everglades in about 2 hours. Yesterday, we got up and headed to Veteran's Park. A nice little pull off beach area just over the 7 mile bridge. We spent a few hours here, walking in the water or just watching the water and other people, come and go.
Then back to camp, one more load of laundry and groceries for the trip. Brad had to put the RV back together, still looking for the thing that was scratching.
After that we went to the Hook, Line and Drinkery for dinner. I had stone crab claws which were very good and Brad had some almond encrusted, whiskey/peppercorn snapper. It was o.k., but it cooled down very fast in the wind. Back to camp. Walked around for a while the off to bed, big travel day tomorrow (4 hours, ha ha).
I did forget to mention all the iguana's we are seeing here. The first couple of days all we saw were one or two fairly small ones.
Yesterday, it looked as if the grand-daddies were coming out......time to get out of town.

Good morning, here it is Friday and an exciting event has happened, we became great-grandparents....it's great, but boy does it make you feel old. Kaydence born 3/29, 9 lbs 3.8 oz and 20 1/2 inched in lenght, a little large!
Wednesday we hung around the campground, not doing much. We were sitting in the kitchen when we heard this scratching noise in the floor or the cupboards, YIKES. We went for a little drive then off to Burdines for dinner. That was great, outdoors, second floor, right on the water. It was a bit windy, but still warm and beautiful.
Thursday Brad tore the floor out of the one cupboard, me off to Home Depot for Foam filler and mouse traps. I did manage to get a load of laundry done. Then off to Crane Point Nature Center. We did the golf cart tour they offered, then walked around the grounds for a while, very nice and informative.

We then went for a little ride on the back streets of Marathon and found this place called the "Keys Fisheries Market and Marina" with the "Hook, Line & Drinker". We had a beer and decided we might have to come back Friday for dinner. The place was pretty full at 4:30-5:00 with people eating fresh seafood.

Well here it is Wednesday morning.
Monday was nice. We stopped at the store, grabbed a sandwich and off to the beach. We sat and had lunch, walked around in the water for a while. We sat for a little and did some people watching (this is always interesting down here.) Then headed back to camp. We showered, checked out a couple of Bars/restaurants, and finally settled on one for dinner. I had scallops and Brad had yellow tail, both were very good. We have concluded that you need to get off the beaten track to find the locals restaurants, but they are usually worth it.
Tuesday we got up and headed to Key West. We had lunch at a little bar on the marina and enjoyed watching at the boats comming and going. Then we just walked through town, hit a bunch of little shops, found the most southern point in the continental US,
and walked through the butterfly conservatory.
That was beautiful.
Headed back, stopped at the Sunset Bar and Grill
and then off to camp. We had dinner at camp and sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful evening.

OK, I fell a little behind on updates so here I go.
We were in Sumterville until 3/20/12 then we headed out to the Florida Everglades. Our first stop was at the Everglades State Park, just outside of Naples. While there we did some sightseeing and went for a walk on the Big Cypress Bend in Fakahatchee Strand Preserve Park. While there we did manage (ha ha) to see a Gator and Black Racer Snake. They kept me moving.
We were there only 1 full day and then on 3/22/12 off to Marathon Florida, half way down the Keys. We got here about 3:00 and did a quick set up and off to the grocery store. Stopped at a Tiki Hut for a drink and then back to the cg. Finished setting up and had dinner here at the camp.
Friday we drove around trying to figure out what all is here. Found the Parrotdise Bar and Grill for Lunch.

Then drove around some of the less populated keys, (actually saw a key deer), and again stopped at a couple of Tiki bars on the way home.
Saturday 3/24 we went to visit our buddy John and hung out on his deck and by the pool a day. Great day of visiting. On our way stopped at Boondocks for lunch (noticing a regular habit here). We came back to camp for dinner.
Sunday was a lazy day. We did a couple of loads of laundry, drove up to the visitors center and then onto Key Colony. Found a little beach area and walked around there, then off to Sparky's Landing for lunch. Brad had a Red and White Chowder for lunch and we split a Lobster Pizza, both were very good, but the Chowder was the best. We did some more site seeing then off to the grocery store and back to the cg for a light dinner.
Hopefully there will be more later today.
